Best looking, feeling shovels

Another pick me an iron thread. 

 

I hit one shot shape. So workability is a waste. Greens in Buffalo are soft enough so spin isn't an issue. I need graphite shafted shovels that just blast the ball in the air. 

 

They need to look sexy though like I'm a good golfer.

The Hot Metal Pro is probably what you want...

 

BUT, I want to shout out the "newer" Hogan Edge EX.  If you're okay with the open cavity in the back, I think they look great and the feel is there all day with forged faces.  I have hit them in the past and they're a really nice iron.  They came to mind yesterday as I was at a local golf shop and the owner was selling a pretty minty 4-PW set for $270.  I have absolutely no need for them and I still had to run out the front door of the store to keep myself from buying them.  They are, to me, criminally underrated.

 

You can buy them brand new from Hogan's website with Recoil shafts at no upcharge, or you can buy heads only.  Pretty solid deal.

Check out T350. I have the 4 iron as a driving iron of sorts and I hit missiles with it. Forged face, doesn't look that bad to me

Feel wise, take a look at PXG XP. I think most people will think they also look good from address. But, it's more polarizing from the back.  I think the size of logo is a bit excessive but that's a subjective opinion.

The best "shovels" I've played were the Maltby KE4 Max with Rapport Blue shafts.  Stupid easy to hit high and far.  I love my Callaway Paradyms, but could go back to the KE4 Max in a heartbeat with no issues, and will likely get a set for leaving at my lake place (unless I do the DBM Pack)

A fitting will help find the best graphite shaft.

 

If you are really serious about fashion sense, there is the issue of scale.

A big 460cc driver looks huge next to a tiny junior golfer!  Not so much if you are a big adult male!

 

Large headed irons wil look huge if stuffed ito a tiny Sunday bag.

A big bag, perhaps with fewer clubs, will help the irons look smaller.

Maybe take out that 3W that you never use to make the remaining clubs look smaller!

Why carry a lob wedge if you score better without one?

PXG 0311XP are very forgiving and feel as good or better than most irons out there.

I don't think anyone recognizes the custom clubs I play.

 

But, I have had random partners and even folks playing on a nearby fairway notice the sound of great ball first contact.

Maybe learning to do that would be a better investment than new clubs?

Wilson D9 Forged or DynaPower Forged- (weird “power holes” but a nice shape overall)

Titleist T350- 

Cobra King Tour- This isn’t really a GI club but for a “player’s distance club” it’s pretty darn forgiving. 

I like the Hot Metal Pro because the shape is pretty nice for a GI iron, the face is hot so it’ll “blast” like you want , and there are a lot of no upcharge shaft options.

Not shovels but as someone mentioned the King Tours from Cobra, I’d suggest the MIM Tours with Recoil 95 shafts instead. Older model I know but I play them and they are so easy to hit and they feel so soft.
