Åberg is my new favorite player

I loved the way the Ludvig was out there, having a great time, not taking himself or the situation too seriously. Even after the double at 11, he was like "well, that's golf!" Loose and relaxed: that's the way to play. It's obvious he loves what he's doing, he loves the big moments, and he loves being a part of it all. I'll be Arnold Palmer was viewed that way. Just like Brooks Robinson was forever viewed as not just a great baseball player, but a great human being and friend to Baltimore. 

 

It's a breath of fresh air after many of these stuffy, no emotion players that the PGA turns out. Or worse, Tiger walking around with a scowl on his face for 25+ years. I can't stand that guy, for the same reason I never rooted for Jordan and the Bulls. GOAT? Sure, but not someone I'm rooting for to succeed.  

 

But then every story needs a villian, right? Luke Skywalker wouldn't be Luke Skywalker w/o Darth Vader.

I absolutely have nothing against the guy. I just get nothing from him. It’s like he was made in a lab 🥼 and comes off as a bit robotic to me. Just my opinion 😊

He seems less robotic than Scottie at least but that's not setting the bar high

I like him and wish him much success. He picks his shot, hits it, and he does it quickly. 
He dunked it on 11 because he was too aggressive with his line but he just 

moved on. He seems to enjoy himself and he seems to enjoy the big stage.
I don’t mind  the scowling grinders a la Cantlay or the head down “ just getting it done” a la Scheffler because tournament golf is hard but I think Aberg is a breath of fresh air.

My only problem with Cantlay is the slow play and entitled attitude. Ludvig plays fast and seems very appreciative of everything that’s happening for him in the golf world.

 Lots of current tour players could look at Ludvig and  he portrays himself on the course and try to copy him. 

 

Majority can't even be bothered to acknowledge the crowd when they get applauded for a good shot, like a birdie etc. 

 

Bunch of robots with no emotion the majority of players on tour come across as.

Amateur in June 2023. Ryder cup champion in October 2023. Masters runner up in April 2024. Not bad.

Aberg showed patience and determination... Enjoyed watching him and seeing him smile all the time.  We're going to see a lot more of him.  He was fun to watch.

 

FYI, it's difficult for me to play good golf and interact with those around me.  When I am playing well, I am boring to play with, least that's what has been said many times.

Or just use an iPad and have the option to long press capital A to get  Å or when talking loft long press the zero to get degrees ° instead of using the asterisk *.

I'm very lucky to have talked with Ludde several times at the Rawls Course at Texas Tech.  He's a truly nice guy and very friendly.  Always said hello when we passed each other in the club house and was always smiling.

 

Watching him hit balls on the range was a joy.  He has "that sound" and trajectory to die for.  There were many times he was out on the range in 30+ mph winds just hitting the most beautiful shots that just seemed to ignore the wind.  

 

World class ball striker.

 

And yes........I am a fan boy

Rawls Course in the usual 30 mph wind is a damn tough place to play for short hitters like myself. I’m sure Ludvig has zero fear of the wind kicking up in these pro events after spending so much time in the LBK.

He didnt have the time… guess a lot of Scandinavians comes through as being somewhat lets say un-spirited. Parnevik is NOT the everyday Joe around here.

I was already a fan, then came The Masters and now I'm a huge fan.  The guy loved the tradition and just being there hitting the shots.  And, not to mention he's humble.  Just a BIG OLE SLICE OF (Swedish) HUMBLE PIE
