I think there’s already a thread on this, but yes, I would think it should be pretty soon that you will see the tour guys testing something new.

Not entirely. Some clubs just don’t suite some people. I hit epic subzero last spring for 2 hours with 3 different shafts at an outdoor fitting center. Never felt any love at all for it.

Fitter saw I was unhappy and handed me the 917 and I was in love after 5 swings. Done. Bought it. Played it all last year and not looking for a new one anytime soon,....well...., until the 919 shows up.

It will also have higher launch with lower spin, slightly higher ball speeds plus it will be more forgiving. The same goes for TM, Callaway, Ping et al.

It can’t be that far away with the price drop in the 917 line. Maybe sales a bit low and they will bring the new line forward.

Confidence can't help a crooked club face at impact, traveling on the wrong path......

True to Titleist's nature of being at least two cycles behind the other OEMs, I'm predicting multi-material (composite crown) construction.

Graphene crown painted exactly like this years. Clean and classic. No turbulators, dragonflies, speedbumps, aerodots, or any of that other **** nastiness.

It’s like some contest as to who can make the ugliest head lately. Ping is surely winning but Cobra F8 isnt far behind.

It is good enough where the few tour players that have hit it want it already. No details on specifics.

    Titleist drivers spin too much!!
  • elwhippyelwhippy Members Posts: 3,160 ✭✭
I think they need a rethink and widen their target audience. For years the only people using the woods were low handicappers. Now they have moved on to TM, Callaway and Ping. When I play league matches you rarely see a Titleist wood anymore. Wedges and irons, bags etc but in my area they are no longer seen as a premium wood maker. Our Pro struggled to sell any 917s and it didn't help when Jordan is seen with a 915. Their woods need more shelf appeal. Too muted colourways and little pizaz. The local fanboys have dropped their 913s and 915s and not bothered with 917s....hence the massive price drops. I realise they are seen as a serious clubmaker and less bling but they have got to try a new approach.

This is what I think will happen given recent Titleist driver offerings:

    1. 919 will be bashed on WRX, because they copied feature xyz from TaylorMade or Callaway

    2. Early adopters report slightly higher spin -> Lots of drivers on the BST.

    3. About a year in people start to realize that spin is not always enemy and buy another Titleist driver.

    4. The new callaway/Tmag driver comes out and people get seduced by LM data again -> Titleist goes to the BST again

Imo this cycle has repeated itself ever since the 913 came out

I can definitely relate to this. Bought 917 and loved it but always searching for more. I was chosen to test the 2017 m1 and I hit the 917 straighter and farther so back to the Titleist. I then bought an Epic and had some great days driving the ball with this club but I started finding the left side too much so back to the 917 I went. Now, I am bagging a 2016 M2 tour head but the 919 will be on my radar when it is released.
