If your ranking the guys who could get to 10 you can eliminate DJ, Day, Rose, and Fowler just due to age and not having multiple majors. Top three are the only guys who have a better than longshot chance and then your talking about just projecting on the young guys. Since the number of guys with 10 is less than 5 all time I just don't feel like projecting any of those guys is realistic. Of the three with a better than minute chance it almost feels like you can eliminate Spieth although even in his tough years he's still showing up in majors. If he gets going again I could see him rattling off another two or three. I'd put Rory/BK's over/unders at about 7.5. I would bet heavily on neither getting there.

I think the only guys worth discussing in any conversation about (potential) dominance would be Koepka, McIlroy, and maybe Rahm. They all have the firepower and the swagger to take over for a year at a time and that's pretty much all you can go on.

Despite his incredible run, I don't think Spieth will ever shine as brightly as he did for that brief moment in time. And IMHO, Dustin Johnson has peaked so if he's not dominating now, there's no reason to believe he will.

For sure on DJ. Even if he does start dominating now he's in his mid 30s sitting on one. I think he may be the most talented player on the planet in his prime but the math doesn't work on a guy winning 9 majors past his mid 30s. He's not even in this debate

oh yes you can... Greatest of HIS time.. was Jack Nicklaus.. debatable for GOAT.

Ha! This thread will turn into a full TW vs Jack thread soon complete with my patented Lee Trevino quote that we all know and love ; )

BK is interesting. Guy seems to have that TW 1.0 confidence that he is the best out there. He is very cool under pressure. Even more than TW. TW used to seem pretty keyed up on the first tee, even in his prime. He almost seems bored. I think he has played a mental trick with himself and believes that he is a "true athlete" and of course he should be winning against these "inferior" athletic pretenders no problem.

Also, guy is big for a golfer and seems very durable. Hope he can stay injury free. He seems more like a Jack in that regard.

He just turned 29. If he has 11 more seasons healthy until he turns 40, that gives him 44 chances in his physical prime. I can see why he thinks he can get to 10 or more.

Rory is still way ahead. He has about 5 more Euro wins and 10 more PGA tour wins. He also has the fifth major. Which will be the fourth major by the time these guys retire. (Or, depending on Brexit, maybe the third major).

From your list I would say that BK is the most likely but it's not gonna happen.

1.BK - great run with 4 wins from 8 majors but if Tiger can't keep up that pace, Brooks isn't going to be able to.

2. McIlroy - at crucial times, nothing is as good as it should be. The driver is too prone to go right and the short game disappears.

3. Work in progress at the moment. Most competitive guy out there but he doesn't have the shock and awe game to dominate.

4. Could have won last week but bottled it as soon as it looked like the door was opening for him.

5. He can't beat the sniffles regularly enough, so there is no chance he is going to beat these guys consistently.

6. Come back when he has won one.

7. Has the game to win by blow out margins but slightly too erratic

8. Too old.

9. See number 6 above.

10. Haha, good one!

Next GOAT is gonna have to win 100 tour events including 20 majors.

Good luck with that.

Tiger in 1997...

The next should be here around 2034...

Of the list you provided I would say none. There have been only 3 golfers in history that have made it to ten majors, Jack, Tiger, and Hagen. Hogan and Player only made it to 9 and since 1980 only Tiger and Faldo have one at least five. Currently there are only three golfers playing that have four, Phil, Rory, and Brooks. Again, only THREE golfers in history made it to at least 10 majors! Hell Padraig won 3 majors from 2007 to 2008 (back to back Open Championships 2007-2008 and the 2008 PGA) and there was no talk about him getting to 10. It took Tiger 9yrs to get to 10 majors, in 9 years Rory will be 39yrs old and Brooks will be 38yrs old. Think they can win six majors in 9yrs just to get to 10? I think not. One thing else to consider is how many guys have caught lightning in a bottle for one week and won the their only major in the last 9 years? That answer is 18 first time and only time major winners since 2010. So that would be half of the majors over a nine year stretch that were won by different first/only time winners. I would not even bring up the word GOAT unless you were talking about Jack or Tiger as the rest are not even close. I know this is brought on by Brooks winning 4 in a two year or so time span, but trust me it will fizzle out just as fast as it happened.

Here is a better question, outside of DJ, do yo think anyone on this list can get to 20 PGA Tour wins in their career?

So......greatest of all time, but without the greatest part? And also maybe even without the all time part?

ok to make it simpler for you guys..

...assuming Jack and Tiger were never born who would have the best chances to be the GOAT among the current crop of golfers in 15 years time??
