Hovland signed with ping

Just seen an Instagram post showing Hovland with an all ping bag and hat.

Seems like he was hinting at that with his equipment changes at the US Open. Good for him. He should be a lot of fun to watch.

Guy mashes the ball! Maybe the highest trajectory on Tour. I hope he decides to play for the US in the next Ryder Cup. His demeanor and positive attitude tells me success will come quickly for Viktor.

even though he always looks like he is falling asleep.

I remember watching him in the US Amateur, the radio guys were all talking about Cole Hammer, didn't say much about Hovland. Glad to see him continuing that success at the Maters and US Open. Playing the first 2 rounds with Koepka and Moli had to be pretty awesome. Hung in there with them too for the most part.

While not a huge shock given his gradual shift to a full Ping bag, still awesome to see. Hope for nothing but success for him, seems like he's got the game to be successful, though obviously not guaranteed.

Figured. He had near a full ping bag anyway.

Love this kid. I really predict great things. Loads of raw tools.

I hope Hovland has a long, successful career. Guy is always smiling which is great.

Hate to see him sign a contract this early.

I think we'll be seeing a lot of Viktor Hovland in the future...enough where his name will no longer appear strange.

He seems to really be an upbeat guy with a nice personality, and he has a nice friendly smile to go with it.

How is having a company hand-make you clubs to your desired specs and wants being handicapped, exactly? It's not like he's got to use Northwesterns he bought off the shelf at Sears.

Yeah, that’s worked out very poorly for Woods, McIlroy, Woodland, Rose, DJ, Koepka, Nicklaus, Kuchar, Fowler, Faldo, Norman, Watson, Schauffle, Scott, Spieth, Bubba, Sorenstam, Thomas, Mickelson, Ochoa, Singh, Garcia, Couples, Player, Tseng, and a few hundred others. Really crushed their career growth and I’m sure did nothing for their financial security. Dumb move by all.

obvious to see the ties between Ping and Holder/OSU still run deep....good business decision by Ping to support the Cowboys and see their investment pay off

Great decision, this guy is shaping up to be a star on tour someday. Pretty well rounded game and seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

That's not handicapping and not taking that easy sponsorship money would be completely foolish.

Good point. Looks like he is not a US Citizen at the moment. Perhaps he will consider becoming one in the future.

Or not and he plays for Europe in the RC

Ping was a great choice. Literally can play anything he wants from smallest MB to largest iron on earth. Great Woods , and use any ball you want. Best contract to sign .

Not a hope he plays for team U.S.A in the Ryder cup , he'd be totally disowned in Norway and Europe if he did that .

Yeah, yeah, I realize it's wishful thinking on my part. Stenson will probably take him under his wing and they'll dominate together. Europe RC team is looking really strong lately. We'll take Matt Wolff though. US needs new blood. Lots of incredible college golfers turning pro this year. Bright futures for both RC teams really, gonna be exciting to watch!

I'd be surprised if he naturalized before 18 given he went to high school in Norway before attending OSU so I doubt he's eligible even if he wanted to. The question is whether he gets Euro Tour status to play for them

What is the formula by which he gets a card?

i'm sure he's among norway's best/brightest , so no worries from either side on that issue ...
