2021 Ping Driver help

Was about to buy the Cobra SZ Xtreme at Roger Dunn and over heard Ping is releasing a new driver this year that will be a G710 driver. Does anybody have any info on what it will be and when? Really liked the G410 but didn't want to buy an older model and second choice was the Cobra.

It probably won’t be released until January... ping is good about releasing equipment with real improvements, but honestly, the 410 had adjustability and not much else over the 400. Both are great drivers.

honestly, I’d look at the f9... or just buy a new driver... there is always another release in the pipeline... find a shaft and head that work for you and you’ll be set for years.

I hit the 410 lst vs my cobra Ltd pro and didn’t see any significant differences... I’m planning on sticking with it until I crack the head.

The Cobra SZ Xtreme is a great driver and IMO the best out there right now (hence why i'm playing it) Insane forgiveness while maintaining low/mid spin. It's exceptional.

Even if you buy the latest and greatest, you're 12-18 months away from having something outdated. Now if you want to wait for a new gen to buy previous gen at a discount that's a different story. But overall, something that works for you should work for a while. I'm about to do a shaft fitting to refresh my 2015 Great Big Bertha. Great driver, now if I could figure out how the hell a snap hook creeped into my driver swing last round....

Would like to see Ping go with a composite body, but I doubt that will happen.

I've heard thats why Ping has decreased the price of the G410 series drivers.

Could be composite, I mean they had the Rapture that was awesome. Give me a composite topped G410 with a few more spaces to adjust the back weight (don't get why they just did 3 and not 5 or 7 for more fine tuning...

They’ve attempted it before, I believe the OG Rapture was a composite.

Guaranteed if it is true and the 710 exists, it will be something akin to the K15. A stand alone, super MOI, anti-slice club, similar to the G710 irons. Look at the offset on those things...you couldn't slice them if you tried in all honesty. However, they already do have that with the SFT, so who knows.

This could just be another ill-informed employee speculating on something after talking to a rep after a PK session about future drivers. Ping has dropped prices in their second year of cycle. They did this for G400, the G, and the G30. It doesn't necessarily mean anything new is slated to come out right now. Ping has always done G irons and woods in Feb/March, and I irons and wedges in the summer. I don't expect them to break this pattern anytime soon.

It's about to happen with the new TS Line for Titleist, Ping may follow suit.

PING's tried and true SFT won't change too much. It's their best selling driver of all of them. Their system is not and probably won't be like Cobra's old offset driver because of what they can do with weighting. All that said, the last we heard was PGA Show introduction of new product. We haven't seen any changes to that schedule yet. I hope they do if I'm being honest. That would be a way to get product in the hands of people regardless of company, and to get them all somewhat back on track.

While the two guys who left for PXG are VERY smart and talented guys, there are plenty guys on the roster at Ping. The g400 and G410 series lapped the previous models of PXG drivers and by many accounts are some of the best drivers available. Maybe the new Proto has finally caught up or passed the G tech from 5 years ago and is even with the newer models. I have not hit it yet, but did try PXG's former drivers and theyt did not perform as well. BTW I have a set of PXG irons coming tomorrow so I'm not bashing them.

How good would a 460cc head, no turbulators, composite top, same fitting sleeve and adjustable weights like g410 with NON counter balanced shafts as a stock option be?????

I'd be a little disappointed if they got rid of the turbulators honestly :). I love em, way more than an alignment aid.

Unless they have a different way to achieve the same, or close to the same aerodynamic result, the turbulators are staying. The dragonfly stuff went away because it could just as easily be hidden (ie, displaying them was a marketing decision to put the tech on display).

Where the turbulators are mainly cosmetic (hybrids) I'd prefer they're gone or minimized.

I really like the way Turbolators look. May be in the minority but its no more intrusive than any other head out there.

2021 for any new Ping products. Likely would target PGA show in January assuming there is a show next year.

Could this be the year that PING fairways catch up with the rest of the woods/hybrids? Yes, they've been good, but not outstanding like the rest of their clubs. No turbulators has me hoping they've given them some extra attention this time around.

I agree with what others have said. If you can get fit for the Driver, do that. I have learned that my game is very shaft dependent. So I now have the same shaft in Ping (G400 version and older) and Callaway. It lets me try heads and just fits me better. If I had the new adaptor on mine I would probably have gotten a 410 by now, but because they switched, it has saved me some money!
