Can the weight in the rear of the LST be removed with a standard wrench and does that port go directly into the head? I am anticipating getting mine here in the next day or two and I am prematurely looking for ways to bring the noise down :stink:. I purposely ordered it a couple swing weights lighter than I normally would play it so that I can try the yarn/ cotton ball trick
The hole into the head is only the size of the screw, too small for inserting cotton balls.
Absolutely 100% not true.......I have 2 xl cotton balls inside my G30 and it made a noticeable difference in the sound.....and they were inserted thru the hole you say is too small......just fyi, you pull them apart before inserting them into the head........... :)
Cool, do you personally notice a difference in weight at all or did it just dampen the sound and thats it? What is the difference in sound comparable to?
I had my G30 digitally lofted to 9* at a D3 swingweight and after the 2 cotton balls, it is hovering around D3.5. Just 2 cotton balls made a difference in sound just enough to take away the tinny sound and make it very tolerable.

I just ordered 2 G30 LS drivers today both digitally lofted to 8.5 with the Tour 65x shaft. I got one for a buddy and one for me. He closed his home loan thru me and I promised that I would order him a G30 LS after it closed as a way to say thank you. I plan on picking up a Rogue 60x to compare it to my Veylix 688x that I currently play in my standard G30. To me the 9* G30 LS set more open than my G30, so my thought is to raise the loft back up to 9.1* which should close the face just a bit.......hope my theory pans out.

BTW..I will have 2 Tour 65 shafts for sale after my G30 LS arrives in about 10 days. 1-xstiff & 1-stiff (from orig G30) if anyone is interested.

The G30 LS does seem to be more fade biased as evanseze says. I hit it against the G25 with an Ahina 70 and the regular G30 with the Tour 65(same shaft the LS had in it). All same loft, set to .5 lower on the G25 and .6 lower on the G30's. I couldn't really tell by looking at them that one or the other appeared to have more or less of an open face, but hitting about 15 balls with each, rotating clubs every 3 balls, I found that the LS seemed to be a little more fade biased than the other 2. I don't know if it had to do with any slight differences in the face angle or if it was with the internal weighting of the club, but this was my experience.

Also, the G30's did not look quite a large over the top as the G25. I think this is attributed to the turbulators(which I'm not crazy about the look of). When I tried to look at them side by side and ignore the turbulators, they did look much closer in size, but the G30's still looked slightly smaller, or less pulled back on the crown.

On shots low on the face, it felt like the G25 was more forgiving, but the results showed that there really wasn't that much of a difference that the feel dictated. Maybe a 5 yard difference in the G25's favor. Shots higher on the face were a little longer with the G30's. Seemed to be around 10 yards longer compared to the G25. All seemed to be very forgiving clubs. Of course, the LS was the lowest spinning, then the regular G30, then the G25. Spin difference was incremental by about 300-400 rpm less on each club when hit on the middle of the face.

I'm not sure if it is a slight problem with the tolerances between the clubs from the factory, but the G30 LS was definitely the loudest. I was surprised by this, but the G25 wasn't very loud at all, and it is supposed to be a LOUD club from everything I've read here. I would think the issue has to be something with the tolerances, because I wouldn't think that I would have noticed that much of a difference.

Is there anyone who has a side by side comparison (maybe same shafts would be a good thing) with the SLDR 460/430 measured by a launch monitor?
iirc, the 430 was ~1.5* lower launch and 3-400 lower spin in my case
I was about 2* lower launch and same spin. TB I think your gonna love that G30. I basically didnt center a single one the day we played and it was still playable. Figured something out with the setup and have been hitting it much better lately. You play a pro v? Sound doesn't bother me with one of those but most other balls have been louder.

I was thinking since the ls tec drops spin roughly 300-400 under the G30 wouldn't it be great if ping was to offer there take on the power milled face like the new bridestone drivers where I think they claimed drops spin by 200-400 rpms more without sacrificing forgiveness.
If so it would put spin down closer to sldr with so much more forgiveness, I have scene many people post that sldr was still 300-500 rpms lower. No idea if the face affects launch angle.

What do you guys think good idea or not?

Why aren't more pros playing the LS? I'm curious.
I'll guess that compared to the pros a lot of us have a more negative angle of attack.

So are you saying this is why most of the ping players always play the so called game improvement driver over the so called players driver.......Why do more of the Titleist pro's play the D2 than the D3? It's time that Golf WRX realizes that the lowest spin is not the be all and end all when it comes to drivers......Many of the pro's on the ping staffs realize just this fact........Many want more spin and need more spin. Yes, as hard as it may be to believe...It's true.
I think those guys need a little more spin so they can work it easier.

The ol' cubicle swing can produce some pretty wild variations in draw and fade spin, so the lower spin for me (and the golfing public) can make up for some poor swings. My guess is for the guys on TV that have otherworldly control of spin they don't need something to artificially lower it, or limit their ability to move the ball.

Just got my LS Tec 10.5 in yesterday, had the opportunity to hit a few at the end of practice.. Man this thing comes out low for me (should mention that I am coming from a high trajectory driver so it could just be that my old driver was a lot higher and that there is nothing wrong with this flight) but it seemed that they were knuckling a bit, never felt too solid even though I could "feel" these shots were struck pretty pure.

Anyone else have any problems with knuckling ball flight? When I was fit, I was consistently getting 2100 spin and no knuckling. Going to try and take the loft up to 11.1 and see how that goes..

I have had both models. I started with a G30 9 degree set to large (-). I have a Project X LZ shaft in it and it was a bomber. Very straight ball flight, not huge misses and very forgiving. When the LST came out, I thought that I could get better results than what I was currently happy with. Wow was I wrong. The 10.5 LST did not pan out for me. I actually lost quite a bit of yardage and the flight was not as consistent. I have since gone back to the original G30.

The LST head is great for the right player, but not for everyone. I am extremely happy that Ping has such a great line-up to choose from.

If you're having issues with low trajectory, knuckling, and feel, I'm guessing the shaft you were fit into might be a little to stout. What is your swing speed?

Interesting that MGS Most Wanted Driver test yielded same distance between the G30 and G30 LS both 9* heads at clubhead speed around 110-111. I've hit the G30 with the Tour 65x and 72x5ct x. It's a fantastic club and how many yards will one gain from a supposed 200 rpm reduction in spin? IMO the G30 already spins on the low side with the correct shaft.

Owned g15, g20 and g25.......just got another g15 and it goes the same, last driver was SLDR and g15 is just as long.....stock head and stock shaft......there isn't anything they can do to make drivers longer, g15 has been as long or longer than any others I've tried given I strike it well.....I think difference people seem to think their seeing is their strike and how well they load and unload the club....it's not the club

Played my first round yesterday with the LS, in a local skins event, and for me it's a total game changer. My misses used to spin (curve) off the planet, now a miss just falls out of the sky and still in play. The solid ones are shot out of a cannon, and the lower spin gave me a huge advantage in the wind. An eagle and 3 birdies later, the skins money paid for the driver.

It wasn't just a marginal improvement for me, it was night and day different, for the better. I'm completely sold on this driver.

Got back home this week after 3 months in Palm Springs, the courses are open so I got in 18 today. My new LST/Tour Ad Di6 out preformed my old SLDR 430 and 913 D3 by more than 10-15 yds on more than one hole. I also found that I gained at least another 10 yds or more, due to our elevation here vs at sea level in California. Plan on getting out on the weekend and will sub the Tour Ad BB7 to see if I get anymore roll out.

My swingspeed is 103-108. I was able to get to the range and had none of the previous problems described with knuckling flight and low launch. Was hitting mid launch flat bombs. (I am coming from a TM Burner HT... so completely different flight on this puppy, may have scared me a bit the first time I saw it) Maybe it was just my swing during that session, still early days, will most likely get out to the range on Sunday and have a tournament on Monday. Nothing like baptism by fire right?! ;)

The difference I'm seeing is verified by Trackman and corroborated by on-course performance. It spins significantly less than the G25 I played previously, and I see that especially when playing in the wind. I lose significantly less distance when playing into the wind, and the ball flight is less affected by cross breeze.

Killing mine right now. There's a dogleg right at my course I played left of last year because a "spinner" or anything into the wind wouldn't carry, better to be safe. I've blocked a few that still carry into a solid wind this spring and we haven't seen 70* yet. My pro V's in the woods will verify that wasn't the case with the g25.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
