I don't think 3.2 availability has anything to do with the coming of 4.3, I fully expect the 3 to stay around along side the 3 when (if?) it hits the shelves.

Agreed, as long as their sales numbers (and profit margins) justify that there's room for both. I don't think the 4.3 necessarily means the 3.2 goes away, but if they start selling the 4.3 like hotcakes and customers [mostly] stop buying the 3.2, I could see them retiring it.

I'm not sure that the Costco customer base is quite like the ProV1 vs ProV1x customer base, where the average consumer will discern that the 3-layer ball might be better for their game and carve out enough of a niche for both. I could see enough customers saying "4 is more than 3, so I want the 4-layer ball like the ProV1x"... That's what I'm going to do lol 😉

Just got my Costco reward executive membership... Over $300... I researched whether they would give me the balance in cash today if I didn't spend it all, but it was a moot point as I spent $30 beyond my reward... And I didn't even buy anything golf-related today!

For future reference, they will refund unused executive reward $$$ in cash.

True, but I could also see a significant number of customers who don't know a 2 piece from a 4 piece, and couldn't care less.  They'll pick the box that has the lowest price on it.

But you'll also have a group who either say "4 is better than 3" or "the more expensive balls must be better".  So I think there will be a market for both going forward.  Big question in my mind if Costco thinks they could have just the 4 piece without losing too many customers who would prefer the 3 if available.  If that's the case I could see them phasing out the 3 in a couple of years.

But the fact remains that I don't think current quantity levels of the 3 means diddly squat when it comes to when the 4 might make an appearance.

Interesting thing this morning. Tbh, this boggles my mind. I’ve never had a prov last less than 2 rounds before it had gouges. To be precise, it was 22 holes. the urethane layer ripped a little but was still playable.  Surprised me. Yet the last ksig I used lasted a lot of holes. I’m not bashing the prov, but my gosh. What the heck with this one ball!!

In other words...every ball, no matter the brand or prestige, has the potential to have crap durability. Haha.

I may buy another double dozen to try, but in my case it wasn't just one ball in the bunch. It's every one that I have tried. I've only purchased one double dozen so it's possible there was a bad batch and I got some of those.

Typically I'm happy if a ball makes it 18 holes. I feel like I got my money's worth on that one. Usually with a ProV1 if the drink, trees, or cart path doesn't get it first I can play it 36+ holes easily.

Same. I normally lose a ball before it’s unplayable. But this was definitely an “oddball”. And it’s also now in the crap/water ball pocket.

Don’t feel like going through so many pages but the 3 piece what is the brand name comparison? I know first generation was comparable to pro v1/x

You’ll need to be specific to the 3pc v1 or v2. Only v2 is now available.

however to me, there was no comparison to the 3.1 balls. They spun too much for me off most clubs. Ballooned irons and lost distance on drives. Tons of spin on green side chips and pitches. I’ve never played a ball with so much spin honestly.

personally I’d compare the 3.2 to the prov1. They compare favorably to each other for my game.

Yep. I haven’t played a lot with 3.2, but it’s much better than 3.1

There's a good video on the TXG channel on Youtube where they test the V2 3 piece vs. a Pro V1. Also check out their review of the Kirkland wedges, eye opening

So are the 3 piece version 1s considered trash? I still have 4 dozen stashed away since switching to Snell and Bridgestone. Still have a soft spot for them since I got my first hole in one with the 3 piece.

For some people they are too spinny I guess. I've played both, and the V2 seems a little less spinny with the irons, and maybe a touch longer than V1 with the driver. I usually play V2 when I'm not playing that well, or on a course I don't know very well and may lose some balls, and I still shoot pretty well with them. My current ball when I'm on is the Snell MTB-X for reference.

Congratulations on your hole in one!  Doesn't matter if it's a PV1 or Topflite, display that ball on the mantlepiece with the date, course and club info for everyone to envy.  Or be like my friend who framed his and displays it on the wall opposite the toilet - everyone who squats gets reminded of his hole-in-one!

My only ace (so far!!!) nearly 20 years ago was with some cheap Wilson ball of a type I hadn't played before and haven't played since. Still got it on display although if someone snuck in the living room and replaced it with some other ball I'd never know as long as it said "Wilson".

I’d say that’s a little harsh calling it trash. I’d play it all day over some rock-flite or honestly any other non urethane ball. I prefer the spin green side. A few feet short because of spin is better than 6ft long because of lack of spin.

The only Kirkland ball that was trash was 4pc V2 and Costco admitted that refunded them because they were essentially defective. Both 3 pc balls are great balls for the majority of golfers out there.

There's a lot of hype around these balls, deserved or not.

Which were the Kirkland balls that were recalled because they were "too similar" to Pro V1s?

The very first 4pc was the ball you're referring to but it wasn't recalled. Just disappeared.

Ah yes, the glory days of conspiracy theories surrounding the original K-Sig. They were grey market copies of Pro V1's, they were actually Taylormade TP Reds, they were designed by space aliens, they were Taylormade cores with covers made from recycled Aquafina bottles. It was like a year-long episode of The X-Files.

I play primarily TP5 and TP5x because I got 12 dozen for essentially what a top flite gamer cost at an "estate sale".  Otherwise I game the Ksig 3.2.  I've hit my longest drive this year with the Ksig, shot my best scores and really like the way the ball feels.  I love the TP5's as well but when I have to purchase them at full retail, I don't.  Ksigs do the job.  I've only just started playing the Ksig 3.1 last September, 2020 when the Ksig 3.2 came out in October.  I have one dozen of the Ksig 3.1 remaining of the 2 dozen I bought.  I really didn't see a "yuge" difference in distance but that don't mean much since I only played them a few rounds.

Are you sure that's the truth?  Pretty sure it was proven that they were Quattros that were only supposed to be sold outside the US which was the beginning of the Titleist drama, followed by the claims.

The Quattro had nothing to do with the Titleist drama. Titleist sent Costco their standard threat letter about making false claims and patent violations. Costco then sued Titleist in response to the threat. In response, Titleist countersued Costco. They settled out of court.

Well "proven" in that the Quattro meme was the one most people on the forums tended to believe in the end. Certainly more plausible than the some of the rather far-fetched theories that were floating around.

Found a K-Sig playing this weekend, decided to play it since I was losing balls in the first cut (yeah it was awful). It wasn't bad, good height but spun too much off the tee. Way more fun for approach shots since I could just drop in wedge shots.

Will probably buy a box as backup but I think it spins too much for me to really game.

I chuckled at Costco tonight.  I went over to where the balls are and noticed that only one box of V1's remained.  I was there late last week and there were quite a few V1's right next to the V2's.  It's obvious more V1's were sold than V2's and the most logical answer is because the V1's were $5 dollars cheaper than the V2's.  Price wins out again.
