SRIXON 765 Initial thoughts and pics!

I've tried a couple sets of z765's with different shafts, and I tried a bunch of shafts during a recent demo day with Srixon and I just didn't care for the z765 irons. I have no issues with my z945's and my Ping I E1's. At least I can say I did give them an honest try. Still are probably the best looking irons out there.

 

What did you not like about them?

I have a set, I look at them all day, yet I still come here to see the pictures :) It's like buying a pair of really nice shoes and then going back to the store and staring at them on the shelf.

 

Can't wait for my real season to start here in the Northwest, played four rounds while on holiday and these were a pleasure to hit.

If it wasn't for this damn wedding I'd already have a set but at least I'll have some time to figure out whether I want to combo with the 565 and/or the 965. Absolutely beautiful irons.

that would be helpful, just make sure you include some commentary about how its perfectly normal to keep 4 or 5 backup sets in the basement, ya know just in case.

For me, it's more about feel.. I hit center of the face with most all my irons and having the mass of weight centered on the z945's just works better and feels better. Out towards the toe did not feel as crisp. Again, nothing wrong with the z765's, just not for me. I've owned and sold two sets of them and just did not feel like they worked well for me. I also liked my Adams XTD Forged irons that took me 2.5 years to finally get out of my bag.

For the record, I'm trying HARD to talk myself out of buying a set of either 565s or 965s to have as a backup set. I get a good deal on them so I kind of want to take advantage!!!! LOL!

I emailed Srixon to see if they'd sell me a head. The gash is about 1/3 inch long and runs perpendicular to the sole toward heel side. Maybe 2-3mm deep. I don't have pics but it's a big gash.

Just got a set of 765s and I tried everything, you name it,wanted to love the new Ping i200s but the Srixons were head and shoulders the best looking , best feeling , best quality irons out there. I actually feel priveliged to own them .

Was fitted for Nippon Pro 980s in stiff flex and they feel truly inspirational .

As another poster said , at impact they feel soft and solid at the same time, the soft feel combined with the slightest of clicks at impact is a fabulous feedback .

I sold my set of 565/765's because I need to get some graphite Steelfibers due to some joint and wrist issues.

 

Have any of you guys ever weakened the lofts in order to blend the 565 and the 765 more seamlessly? I'm thinking of 4-7 in 565 and 8-P in 765 with 565 2* weak and 765 1* weak. I noticed that the 765 were a bit strong in the lofts for me in some of the irons.

I also re-shafted my SM6 50, 54, 58 to i110 from s400 to better match with the rest of the irons. I had hoped to take them straight to the course but the weather in Edinburgh wasn't co-operating. Fingers crossed next weekend is an improvement. I'm keen to get a couple of rounds under my belt with them before going on a golfing vacation to Florida in a couple of weeks. Photos to follow.

Likewise. I'm coming from s300 AMT in my 716 AP2s. Steelfibers had been on my radar for a while but the cost was always a factor. I'm guessing it will take a couple of rounds to get used to the weight difference.

First range session with my 765's on Saturday. Still very rusty and gotta shake the cobwebs from the swing but, when these are hit pure they definitely feel better than my '13 X-Forged Irons I had in since they came out. I'm interested to see my distances since the Srixons are a little stronger loft in all but PW. I also switched from KBS Tour to S300's. Can't wait until the snow melts and I can start hitting these on the course off some real turf.

I really like those NO1 Pro grips. I'm going to put them on my z765's once the original grips wear out.

I put 3 wraps of masking tape and one wrap of double sided tape and they are perfect for me.

I went for a fitting thinking the iBlades or possibly the i200 series irons would be my next purchase (currently game s56 w/ KBS Tour X-Flex). The fitter had me hitting all sorts of irons and shaft combinations. The Srixon z765 and z965 were amazing!

 

The shaft that brought everything together was the KBS C-Taper Lite X-Flex. Srixon's no upcharge shaft options make this combo attainable in terms of $$. That shaft is an upcharge w/ Ping and would be around $250/iron WTF!!!!

 

I honestly don't think I have a choice in the matter lol - it's going to be Srixon irons in my bag soon enough.

They said the upcharge was $250 per iron or $250 for the whole set? Not sure if I misread, but I would think it would be $250 for the set. Or are you saying that it would cost $250 per iron after the upcharge? That still would seem really high.

Srixon z765's are $185 per iron (with no upcharge on shaft or grip). Ping iBlades are $200 per iron plus another $50 per iron for the shaft upcharge and non-Ping grip.

I think it is the CG placement but who knows. Feels good
