Saw some new Callaway Woods last night (The Epic Thread)

Got to hit our reps demo yesterday both the GBB Epic and the Sub Zero versions both with Aldila Rogue MAX 60 S and compared them against my XR 16 Pro with PX HZRDUS 6.5 really liking the numbers I saw, the feel on it was amazing to probably the best Callaway head I've hit feel wise in a long time and the sound was perfect. I was really hesitant on those two parts cuz I didn't know how the Titanium Rods would change that. Rep told me the idea behind the rails is to stop the flexing of the crown and sole during impact to help reduce energy transfer. I took a picture of the number comparisons between it and my current driver but can't seem to post them.

wow.....i miss a couple of days and come back to a thread completely derailed and spiraling quickly. in a week or so we will have an official press release and real info - which hopefully will warrant this thread being locked and a new OFFICIAL one started. the direction this has gone is embarrassing.

Think Rogue Silver with stiffer tip but slightly higher torque. For most, MAX will launch and spin slightly less but still feel less stiff.

Good catch, a VERSION of the Green HZRDUS is a stock option. Can't fonfirm this, but would imagine will be similar differences between them as between Rogue 125 MSI and 110 MSI.

Everything in this thread seems to be about additional ball speed. That just means further into the bushes for most of us, or can jailbreak defy the laws of physics too?

Agreed. Take some lessons and a positive thinking class, dude.

 

But in fairness, ball velocity is VITAL. Much more important than SS. The ball coming off the face is a massive determinant in distance because many will not be swinging any faster than they normally do.

At my lesson on Wednesday, I mentioned the EPIC to my instructor, who has a Trackman on a range. He said (not exact words): "Oh, yes, we had it in here the other day. About 5 guys put it through the paces, and they all showed 3-4 more mph of ballspeed." My instructor is big on data. There's something there.
