The driver looks good, the fairway woods look amazing but the hybrids not so much.

Loving the colour scheme as well. Never liked the black and blue colour scheme of the last couple G models.

The crown is a bit too Wilson Staff for me. TM have proven there is no need for that nonsense on the crown.

Wait, a crown that's 1/3 white and 2/3 black carbon fiber is the example of a plain crown?

Agreed, TM lost me mostly when they started doing the white club heads, never was a fan, makes the club head look monstrous.

I do agree there is a lot going on the top of the driver, but thats probably one of the reasons they went with the matte black color again. The turbulators and everything else really fade into the back ground with that color. I'm excited for the clubs, all but the hybrid. I love the turbulators on the driver and fairways and really think it helps frame the ball way better than anything else, but on the hybrid I just don't care for.

He's talking about the turbulators, dimples, dragonfly, etc

I'm not saying that the Ping crown doesn't have a lot going on, but TMAG seems like an odd example of a plain look. I could understand using Titleist as an example, but M1/M2 would not be among the driver crowns I'd think of as being unadorned.

I think Bubba's driver looks great for a change.

Anyone know why PING is still using Ti for the crown instead of CF or a lighter weight metal like magnesium? If they did they wouldn't likely need the dragonfly stuff, and maybe wouldn't alienate a certain set of golfers that care about a muted look. I'm not one of those people, btw.

Even with the dragonfly stuff their crowns in the past have been relatively heavy compared to carbon fiber.

Prior to the Epic SZ, I played the G30 LST and the G LS at various points. The G30 pretty well optimized my spin numbers, getting me down around 2200-2600, but ball speed numbers topped out at around 165mph. With the G, the ball speed numbers jumped up by about 3-4 mph, but the spin jumped up to around 3000 mph (with a neutral to slightly positive AoA). So, I wasn't able to get totally optimized with either of them. I found that the G30 worked a little better for me, because I seemed to be able to control it a little bit better. The SZ was the first one I found that combined the ball speed an low spin, and I wonder if with the G400, Ping will join that club.

I'm starting to really like the looks of this line. Really hope they all perform. Loving all of them..driver, fw, hybrids.

I've always gotten along with the shape and performance of Ping hybrids. They have a nice rounded look to them that make them look easy to launch high and straight. These G400 hybrids (3 & 4) will be in my bag for sure.

I like (and always have) the understated look of Ping woods. If you go back all the way to the G2, they've all been pretty subtle looking. Even the racing stripes on the i25 looked damn good (and that driver was excellent).

please make a 4 wood

+1

Me three!

Also, does anyone know if the new Maraging Steel used in the G400 FW and Hyb is the same 455 Carpenter Steel used on the G FW and Hybrid?

I thought the 455 on the G Series were great improvements over the 17-4 that they have been using forever in previous gen woods and hybrids.

That said, the G FW is a bit hollow sounding. I do love the G Hybrid's solid feel and sound!

Hoping that the G400 can better the G on sound and feel for all woods!

Because they've manage to design the thinnest Ti crown ever produced, so thin in fact that when they were prototyping the current G drivers their factory didn't think they could reliably produce it but they found a way, essentially postponing their need for them to got to a different material. Doesn't mean they won't eventually, they certainly know how to.

Meh, everything since the S55's, G25 irons, and G25 driver is just meh for me. I used to play all ping for years. Bought the G driver last year and should have just kept my G25. No real difference

But that's his point. If the G's crown looks didn't bug you, this won't either. But if you didn't like it on the G, this look isn't going to win you over either.

It's not just you. I don't see it either. I just see a very forgiving driver that will make up for my lack skills.

I spoke to our fitter last night. People don't realize what PING has done yet. They're going the other way with size, but keeping all the same characteristics of the G in s better sounding and feeling package. The 445cc head is going to be much easier to square up. Having the common man version and the LS deeper version is going to be tremendous. I'm really glad I came back to PING and look forward to flipping my bag next year!

Because for CF, it's been-there-done-that with the OG Rapture! Lol.

I bet they don't because it increases production costs which hurts the business case. And CF isn't necessarily lighter than Ti.
