Ping G400 Driver, Fairway Woods and Crossovers (Including Bubba's Custom Driver and 3 Wood): Shot at

If the 400 stands for 400cc you can take my money right now.

No unfortunately. It's roughly 440-ish cc...maybe a touch bigger. Depends on who you ask.

The Ping G at 460 does not look oversized at all. If the G400 is 440-445, it should look even better.

I haven't played anything under a 460 in forever. The "deep" craze wasn't good for me. That being said, I remember playing a 355cc driver for a LONG time, and it was a baseball bat easier to square up. I have high hopes... :)

no more speculation needed, it is 445. I have played the G LST for quite a while now. FWIW when I sat G400 down it was very G in apperance and shape, the new size maybe comes down to being a touch smaller to the eye, but not terribly obvious (for example the difference from lets say a Titleist D2 vs D3, that IMO wasn't there).

I don't think I can stand the turbulators and everything else on the crown. Just too busy.

I'm. definitely going to give the crossover a try. I like the more iron like finish versus the black.

Honestly, you stop seeing them. In the G, I don't even notice them anymore.

Hybrids and Fairways look nice except the fairways must be the shallowest face in history of ping fairways. Can anyone say roof out of really deep rough. Driver will have to work well to overcome the NASCAR look. Way too busy, distracting. Was hoping for dragonfly technology being internal. Instead now on sole and crown..Best thing about driver is Bubbas multi colored weights. Maybe this time they will actually offer the weights for sale.. head covers pretty boring at least they offer some decent leather ones..

I had G series and G400 side by side and didn't see any difference in face depth.

They added surface to low sole and low heel but not really visible from address.

Can't wait to see the numbers people are gonna get. Only wish they got rid of the numbers on the crossover and just went with the degree. Ticky tack I know.

New crossover looks awesome compared to old. Less offset doesn't look mad hook-y.

New crossover is .370 as well, which allows for a multitude of custom options.

Could see a G400 LS 10*, a Crossover 4 with a C Taper Lite (if they allow us to order with iron shafts), and a set of 5-W of the G400 irons (C Tapers and barring they look terrible).

Can't knock the I25 3/5 woods out of the bag yet.

200 irons and 400 woods... wonder what the significance of the numbers are? Looks like the G shafts will fit all the same, so that is exciting. I will definitely give the 10* LS a chance to take out my current G LS that has been one of may most favorite drivers ever!

I just couldn't get along with the Crossovers and went back to hybrids. Maybe the new version will be better for me.

I don't think we are looking at the same pictures. The G15 - G25 were all significantly shallower than G400.

Just googled those with images they still look shallower than those to me. I did compare my G fairway to the G400 fairway and the 400 is shallower (not pictures in hand, small but slight) I guess ping really hasn't done a deep faced fairway since the ill fated titanium rapture 3 wood..

i25's are deep faced

The bubba version looks best of all the previous bubba versions. I like a lot!

I agree. It would be sweet if the offered customization and you could substitute any color. If that happens and i can use hawkeye gold instead of pink, they can have this weeks paycheck

Oh yeah!!

You guys mean Cyclone Cardinal and Gold, right? ?

These look great -- interested to hear how they perform. I think Bubba's looks a lot better than his G. I don't see any conceivable way the driver would kick my Epic SZ out of the bag, but I really like my G30 3 wood, and I'd be interested to hear how the G400 will perform, given that it's a couple generations removed from that model, and Ping tends to make incremental progress from generation to generation. Being able to pop my current shaft into the new head makes it nice and easy to compare apples to apples.

I would rather more forgiveness from a fairway wood. If I need more length, I would go with driver. L

I'm curious what materials are used and if they went to some sort of face cup.

Crossovers look nice. I could use one on the course I play.

One thing that just came to mind is the amount of tungsten they're now using. I've tried to post a comparison picture between the G400 and the i25, but the uploader is throwing errors.

Are they just getting cheap, or have they figured out a better way to position the tungsten? Maybe that slug is thicker (vertically?).

Will be interesting to see the MOI numbers on each head - curious how they match up with the last couple gens.
