They look good, but I'm not sure I want that much stuff going on with the crown of the driver. IT's a bit distracting IMO. But if it works who really cares.

The driving iron in particular looks awesome. The rest of the clubs, specifically the bottoms, look sleek and a nice step forward from the G and G30 with the blue. Really like the all black look.

Interested to see what new tech is in there.

Same. Just use carbon, texalium, or something clean to reduce weight. Those ribs are hard to look at.

The bubba version looks best of all the previous bubba versions. I like a lot!

I agree. It would be sweet if the offered customization and you could substitute any color. If that happens and i can use hawkeye gold instead of pink, they can have this weeks paycheck

Oh yeah!!

You guys mean Cyclone Cardinal and Gold, right?

Not even if they gave me the option of being paid to play it or never playing golf again!

I wish they would round off the back of the driver just a little more. I still think it looks good but take a little off the back and she would be a beaut. I've jumped on the epic bandwagon but I'll of course try this out since I'm a huge fan of Ping. Sadly the only thing Ping has ever beaten out others clubs in is with my irons.

Sweet looking, but if my only free shaft choice is the Ping brand, I'm out.

Why? Ping shafts are very good. And if you don't like the standard shaft the tour shafts are very, very good.

They have some choice upgrades as well. I went through several high-end shafts with my G but in the end got the best results with the stock Alta shaft.

No reason to discount them over shaft offerings, you'd be doing yourself a disservice.

Well, I was thinking about picking up a G driver when the price drops...but this looks rather nice.

Also, going off the looks alone, it looks like Ping's produced some good fairway woods and hybrids again.

The driving iron has "Crossover" faintly etched on the back and G400 on the hosel. What's with that? It looks like the normal crossover, just with a different finish.

trust me NCN, in hand looking at it closely, and then sitting it down at address, it is very different than the original Crossover.

For one thing, it looks like there's a lot less offset in the new model. To be honest, I just dropped a hefty amount on a new Honma TW-U #3, so I won't be buying anything new for that slot for a while. But I am definitely in the market for a new driver and 3/4 wood :pimp:

My prediction for what it's worth... This line will be a turd in stores UNLESS it's pushed hard by retailers and club pros, and/or it flat out performs head and shoulders above the rest compared to what's already in the market from the competition.

Nothing about the LOOK of this line suggests top of line technology at first, second or even third glance.

1. The shaft graphics and colors are horrendously drab (brownish flat copper) and you have to search hard for the flexes on the graphite shafts as they are almost "hidden" by the paint job they've used, dumb.

2. The sole of the drivers only inspire yawns. They remind me of the Anser woods that they couldn't give away fast enough at the end. So boring looking. Companies attempt to convey a message to the consumer by the look of the sole of the driver "in the rack" and Ping has missed the opportunity with the 400. Very few will flock to this club "in the rack" unless they are entering the shop already wanting to try it.

3. The switch to plain golf pride tour velvets on the glued hosel products (with the GP logo up) make the clubs look like the they have been regripped or that they are knock offs. The consumer knows this is the cheapest GP grip you can buy. Why use it as stock to sell top of the line clubs? (and without at least a Ping logo? Really dumb)

4. The crossover clubs look WAY TOO BIG in the new finish and will only be at best a niche club line instead of building on the moderate success they've had with G crossovers.

5. And yes, I've already seen the irons in person and the backs are truly hideous. Way too gimmicky and busy on the back, with an enormous black rubber circle screaming "I'm a hack! Look at my new Pings!"

They actually make the Adams XTD's look classy.

All said, I'm a big Ping fan, and I root for them for the way they do business.

I actually thought the G irons looked good, clean and high tech, but they simply confused the consumer with the name of the whole "G" line and couldn't build any word of mouth buzz due to the confusion they created with consumers by ditching the number on the back end of the product line.

We'll have to wait and see what transpires but Ping may have dropped the ball on this line.

Regarding the looks, I like the minimalist design of the sole, personally. I think it's a smart design for Ping the way they position their clubs in the market. They don't really market their stuff as being the hot new thing where you're going to pick up loads of distance with each model released. They've always been about solid performance over looks and other bells and whistles. With their woods, they deliver forgiveness first, with solid distance to go along with it. Having the SFT and LST variations gives 3 simple options to help slicers, people who need to cut spin, and people who are looking for a little help keeping their shots in the fairway more often. It's a formula that seems to work for Ping, and I'm not surprised to see them stick with that.
