Pinseeker - they "introduced" cavity back irons in mass about the same time as Ping was gaining momentum.

 

They were a nice feeling irons, but they couldn't compete with the reputation Ping was establishing

 

Bob Barker gave away a lot of sets of those on Price Is Right!

Two stick out. My first starter set as a kid was made by Bullet Golf.

 

And my dad was a big time Ian Woosnam fan back in the day. Remember Maruman clubs???

Weren't they made by Ralph Maltby?

 

The 97 Aussie Blades were designed by Maltby, but the Revolution irons and the last iteration of Aussie Blades were not.

Tiger Shark

 

I remember lusting after a set of Tiger Shark or Spalding Executive irons

 

It was the back end of the '80s I think

 

It was ok....

 

Spalding Executive irons with the stipple pattern in the cavity and the shafts over the hosel were my first "good" set of clubs in 1982! Paired with Lynx Predator woods with the wood inlays in the crown and some pretty big offset. Replaced the woods with first or second generation Taylormade "Pittsburgh Persimmons". Replaced the irons with a set of Pal Joey's in 1988 as a grad school graduation present to myself. Back then "custom" meant 1/2" overlength... :-)

Stag golf was always listed in McCaffery's ads (local golf shop in SF). Might have been a house brand.

 

Is PRGR still around? Or mentioned previously?

 

Spalding/Top Flite was a good brand at one time.

Yonex make great irons and still very much do. Their irons & clubs are split into Asia Specs & Euro/USA Specs.
