Things that have been bugging me lately

The idea that playing music on the course shows a lack of respect for the game is hilarious. Having been in the golf business for over a decade, its about entertainment. You'll see clubs soon putting speakers and playlists on the cart GPS systems for golfers to use, so better get used to it!

aannnd.... that's why we walk. 👍

Our greens team have done some amazing work recently. New bunkering, laid new turf and built an amazing stone bridge to replace two out of date wooden versions. GUR is fenced or roped off to protect the fresh turf and seeded areas. So why do morons decide they are above these restrictions and walk or drag their trolleys across the GUR without any consideration for other members? As my old French Master would say "peasants". Need to get back to interviewing prospective members.

Flippers.  “ I have no intention of ever using this but I want it so I can rip someone off who does” says annoying flipper guy.  They claim it’s basic economics, supply and demand, but I view it as simple greed.

I have to completely disagree with this one. I am not a flipper myself, but if someone has an item that I want and they can make some money on it I am happy to pay it. I consider it a win/win for all parties involved.

I find it hilarious/depressing to see so many classifieds posts where people say “puppy surgery sale!” or “car needs a new transmission sale!” Guys, stop spending thousands on golf clubs and get yourselves a f****** savings account. Jesus.

Yeah but how will the banks make their money without us getting into bad loans and CC debt? Think of the 1%

Oversized scorecards. Grrrr.

I got a gift card for Christmas, and decided to treat myself to a nice custom scorecard/yardage book holder. I bought an XL version thinking it would fit pretty much everything. Bah. You'd think that scorecards would be more or less standardized at this point, at least size wise. Nope. Some courses just have to kill a few extra trees to claim they have the biggest scorecards in the state. Lol.

Also, what's with courses not having drinking water on the course? Water jugs, fountains, or heck, bathroom sinks with enough room to get a water bottle under the faucet will do. One can only carry so much water. I generally play early morning rounds on weekdays, so there is rarely a drink cart out on the course.

Ropes. I understand that courses may not want carts in certain areas, and roping off the area is an effective way to do that. However, would it kill them to leave an opening for walkers? Can't begin to count how many times my clumsy behind has nearly killed myself trying to climb over a rope.

My knees hurt.

Two Alleve in the morning, fish oil supplements, a little MSM, and a nice pair of neoprene knee wraps to trap heat. 'Works wonders.

Music might not be everyone's cup of tea during a round of golf, but let's accept and adapt, shall we? The game is about entertainment after all, and clubs seem to move in this direction - so might as well get used to it! Playlists on GPS systems could actually make for a more enjoyable experience. 😊

Temper tantrums...I've witnessed more than a few now since I came back 3 years ago. You would assume that as people age that they would have reached a certain emotional maturity but nooo...I've seen people in their late 50s and 60s throwing their clubs, kicking their ball off the green and slamming their putter head on the green.

The worst I've seen was three police vehicles on the golf course called in to settle a disturbance between golfers who couldn't get along. Thankfully, it wasn't on my group.

My kind of music isn't.   There were bluetooth speakers in the golf carts at a local course here.  Rolled up to the first tee with Cannibal Corpse on the bluetooth.

Witnessed BAD KARMA in action yesterday with a golfer in my flight on hole # 8 (Par 3) when he carelessly dropped his golf bag ON THE GREEN instead of the fringe or apron in order to hit his third shot from the backside area. His next shot resulted in his ball hitting his bag and ricochet sideways!

I love it when something (other than me or my actions) bothers my opponent. I like the game and roll with punches. It’s hard enough mentally without letting outside distractions in. But if my opponents are distracted, well…..Having said that, I fix extra divots and pick tees out of ground and make sure all my partners know of my disgust with my findings. But I have a very short memory.

They see the guys who play on TV do it, so it must be the mark of a good putter. 🤔

Sponsors/companies laying claim to the naming rights from the past. Sam Snead did not win the Wells Fargo championship he won the Greater Greensboro Open, Arnold Palmer won the Phoenix Open from 1961-1963 NOT the waste management open. For some reason this drives me nuts.

Would depend on if it was the "same" tournament, i.e. organized by the same local entity.  If no, then I agree, its just another tournament that was coincidentally held in the same town, but if yes then I'll give some leeway.

Only place I ever saw an actual fistfight on a golf course was Bethpage.

It's "hit on the cart girl every time I see her" guy for me and it's not even close - and my league partner is one of those douchebags.  Every time you see her the conversation doesn't need to start with "Are we doing a shot!?"

Super cringey stuff there.   Exponentially worse when it's old dudes such as myself.  I've seen it in my Senior league.  What are these guys thinking?

I can tell you - they're looking for physical contact or to groom them into flashing their t**** at some point.  It's weird.
