The Open @ Carnoustie (NO POLITICS)

It’s nearly a year and somewhere deep down I still can’t get past this photo....

I still feel bad for Kuch...

I'm still ticked at Kuch for giving Spieth the fist bump and smile like it was all good after waiting 20 minutes for the range drop. Way too friendly. Get mad, get fired up, just like Spieth did and flattened him.

By the way, going to go out on a limb. Winner at Carnoustie this week goes -14. Unless of course the weather gets super nasty, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen and these guys are just too good to not be able to handle a firm/fast course with ideal green speed.

Was going to ask what we are think winning score will be

Totally agree. Could you imagine Seve or Tiger doing that?

They would have been badgering the official to hurry up and would have made Spieth as uncomfortable as possible.

As if Tiger or Seve would be in the fairway waiting on Spieth. It's far more likely Seve and Tiger would have driven where Spieth did and proceeded exactly the same as the defending champ, driving range drop and twenty minute wait included.

The fact that people are STILL having a crybaby fit a year later about the events at #13 is pathetic.

I am not even sure that will happen. Here is the history of scores at this course at the Open Championship......ill say -5 or -6 gets a win

Today I saw Tiger Woods hit a stinger - I can die tomorrow.

Was it all you thought it would be? Tell me everything.

Words can’t describe it but I would certainly recommended the experience. I actually saw 2, one on 6 and another on 9. Both with 3 or 4 irons I think - he didn’t seem to want to hit the GAPR. Played with Dechambeau and Lucas Herbert of Australia and seemed to enjoy their company.

Also saw Spieth challenge Justin Thomas to make par down 18 with just a 5 iron, I think it was a double or nothing in a money match, he only made a 5 though. Got a quick chat with Greller (he was following Tiger whilst scouting the course) and he seemed like a nice guy, said hi to Notah Begay and I’m pretty sure I saw Mats Wilander (retired tennis player).

This was actually the first time I’ve ever seen Tiger in person despite attending a Masters and a Ryder Cup.

I feel sorry for the groups that come immediately after Group 38 tomorrow. They are going to do a whole lot of standing around.

I wonder if the R&A put it together on purpose so they could give out a slow play penalty this week.

couldn't this be a record scoring week? 400 yard drives and flips into par 4's

-20 I'd imagine if you can steer clear of the pot bunkers. I think the pots that are 20 to 40 yards short of greens will be more in play than the ones 300 out of the tee

Is "Hogan's Alley" still as mystical today as it was back in the 50's?

So narrow! It actually seems to get narrower the closer that you get to it.

23 yards according to GC last night.

So the guys today can't carry the bunkers on the right? I guess I'm trying to understand what the play is going to be this week: either take a line into the ally or lay up short of the bunkers??

Seems so. If there is some wind at their backs, I suppose some players can attempt to carry it, but if you end up in one of those pot bunkers, bogey would be a great score.

When I played it from the member tees I hit a very good driver and carried the bunkers (I am not short but not that long either) and the ball stopped next to the little burn on the right. Hit a PW and then 3 putted for a par like a real WRXer! :D Good times!

Maybe, but that's because what happened there was a terrible fiasco (by the R&A) that influenced the outcome, and will be remembered more than the actual win. Also because Kuch is a great guy and a lot of people (like me) would have liked to see him win more than Spieth.

270 over the middle bunkers, 300 the pair on the right, into the prevailing it'll be interesting, with the wind, they bomb it over no prob.

Like you when I played it from the regular tees, those carry numbers are waaaay lower. Funnily enough I 3 putted for par too.

Hopefully that prediction proves true
