G400 driver replacement in January

herbygolf21

Callaway, TaylorMade, and Ping duking it out for the ugliest driver of 2019. It’s a tight race.

Nothing new for Ping, their drivers are always horrific looking imo.

But they always work.

Never said the performance wasn’t there...

I know. :)

DRIVER:  Callaway Rogue ST 10.5

FAIRWAYS:  Callaway Rogue ST 3, 9, 11 Fairway Woods

HYBRIDS:  Callaway Big Bertha 3 Hybrid, Rogue ST 4 Hybrid

WEDGES:  Callaway Jaws Raw 50 S Grind, 54 S Grind, 58 Z Grind

PUTTER:  Odyssey Toulon Las Vegas

BACKUPS:  Odyssey Toulon Garage Le Mans Tri-Hot 5K Double Wide, MannKrafted Custom, Slighter Custom

A Ping club photo always leaks about this time of year for clubs that are slated for "reveal" at the PGA show in late January. Shall we say "par for the course?" Or maybe a controlled leak?

Ping G400 Max driver w/Aldila Rogue 125 Silver
Ping G425 5 wood & hybrid
Ping G30 irons w/Recoil 95

Ping G425 irons w/Accra ICWT 2.0 95

They have their reps on serious embargo. The ones that leak stuff are putting their jobs at risk. Our rep is as tight lipped as ever, more so that I ever remember him being. It wouldn't shock me that PING would start to slow leak things out. All the OEMs do a little of it. Since marketing isn't their thing, I can totally see this being a plant picture.

Remove the paint fill on the 'G410' and take out those stupid red stripes and you have a fantastic looking driver.

Those aren't red. They're pink. Yuck.

Let me tell you what Wooderson is packin'
Sim Max 12° Speeder NX 6s
Sim2 Max 15°
Ping G410 21°
Ping G425 22°/25°
Ping G430 6-PW AWT Stiff
Ping Glide 3.0 GW/SW

Ping Eye 2 XG LW

Hopefully they offer some awesome stock shaft offering's like everyone else.

That's one question I never get answered. They're obviously using made for shafts, but they never say who makes them for their heads. It probably goes a long way to keep costs down too. Oh well... :)

I do love the look of the G400 line, but I think the G410 sole looks sleek.

Any more info on the new sleeve?

More adjustability, but will the std setting still be the most upright or is it going to more of a TM model where it is 1.5 deg up or flat from a std position?

they already have a -1.5 sleeve where it makes the club flatter. I have one. Im thinking it may be the new sleeve not it is a guess.

where might one find one of those guys?

It’s been said that the old tips won’t work with the new heads.

That's correct. Our rep said the new tips will not work with the old heads.

And that blows....... ?

Ping doesn't use made for shafts. The stock Ping shafts are co-engineered.

Isn’t a co-engineered shaft “made for” a particular club/manufacturer?

Whatʻs your take on the bottom third section with the “SFT” going left and up ? Got 5 little turbulators (ribs) where it connects to the shell. This looks unfinished, rough, separated, somthing else ? Camera, reflective light. Hmmm....

Looks completely finished and clean imo.

I love how ping hasn’t peed their pants cause a picture got posted and isn’t reciting how many “ sleeps “ left till pics are posted like TM is.

I think it's funny that someone completely ruined their momentum with the whole child like anticipation. It was cute the first time, seeing it on a daily basis was getting old.

In Ping's case they are involved in the specs. The shaft manufacturer builds to those specs. It is not one of their off the shelf models. Ping is unique in doing this. Someone wrote a great article on it, sorry I can't remember who. If I find it I'll share it.
