I'm looking for forgiveness/ consistency as it relates to ball speeds across the face. I don't want a driver that's forgiving from a dispersion/ shot shape standpoint... It needs to be forgiving speed wise on mis-hits.

 

That said, #1 priority for me is look at address... If the shape doesn't fit my eye I wont even test it.

Assuming the launch conditions are what I want, speed/distance is probably number 1 for me.

I'll take best overall distance then dial it in with shaft and settings... unless there is a dramatic bad toe miss or something.

Distance/Ball Speed for me, usually direct link to my spin numbers as I have been fighting to keep my spin down since having shoulder issues.. M5 toward the end of the year really hit that sweet spot. Will be very interested if you can improve on that.

Forgiveness but it’s to a point. No one wants to give up 15-20 yds on every hole. That stated, I’d give up 5 - 8 all day, every day.

Ian Fraiser from TXG told me he's loving the new driver. Of course he's not going to say bad things about it but I think I could tell by his overall enthusiasm that it's a step forward for TM. I felt that 16 to 17 M wasn't much for a leap, and neither was 2018 really. You could argue M6 changed the shape a bit to help add some forgiveness but I'm hoping 2020 SIM is an even bigger step forward from that.

In general most drivers these days on hits off center yield a small loss so I think everyone is willing to give up 5 yards or so on the slight mishit. No one is going to be willing to give up distance on center or very near center contact

Well that's just the thing about TXG, they really call it how they see it. Much like Crossfield and other youtube reviewers. Granted, Crossfield will be a hair late to the game for reviewing TM because of their little "tiff" from a few years back. I like Ian and Matt as they are eternally optimistic but very real and understand that different swings and different players have different needs.

You boys are gonna love the driver and all the new things coming out.

$1M question. Who knows. They say it is the best driver they have come out with. (However, every company says that every time they release a new head/club, especially a driver.) We'll have to wait and hit it and get some numbers before any of that can be definitively stated as a, yes.

Well as long as they can get some measurable improvements, even if all it is comes down to is. 1 mph ballspeed, it's technically true. Educated consumers should be aware at how much little meat is left on the bone when it comes to driver head tech at this point.

Unless for no cost upper some OEM can come up with a very high moi design with a very low cg on or below the neutral axis, all we'll be seeing are these tiny tiny improvements.

Saw one of the drivers today when I was at a golf shop. Looked almost exactly like the M6 without the red on the sole, the butt plug shape is more exaggerated and the M6 on the sole was replaced with SIM on it. Couldn’t take a pic fast enough but it also had the speed slot holes behind the face filled in with some sort of polymer? Either way, kinda first impressions were disappointing

Unfortunately, headcover got put on before I got a closer look. And after the rep left, the sales guy claimed “he never saw the top” and was very tight lipped about any more info. I clearly wasn’t as slick as I thought I was being.
