Current best swing in golf

he only hit 4/14 fairways on Sunday in a tournament he should have won. His swing is not reliable when the heat is on, very frustrating because I am a fan

Good to see that not every poster feels the need to complain about the OP not being definitive with the question before answering.

I will use the following:

best: of the most excellent, effective, or desirable type or quality

golf: a game played on a large open-air course, in which a small hard ball is struck with a club into a series of small holes in the ground, the object being to use the fewest possible strokes to complete the course.

swing: bring down (something held) with a curving movement, typically in order to hit an object.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Sungjae. Nobody hits the ball as consistently and he's only 21. Once he gets more experience under his belt this kid is going to be unstoppable.

To me, it's McIlroy because despite his small size, he is one of longest guys on tour. His swing is has to be one of the most efficient swings on tour in terms of the speed he can generate with his short height, but also his accuracy is excellent.

I don't like the analogy of longest player pound for pound. The more accurate is longest player inch for inch because a taller person has a much greater chance to easily hit the ball further with a much wider arc. It is just physics.

I didn't say Els wasn't talented but he flips it around. Justin Thomas and Jason Day flip it around as well and try and hook and block their way out of contention. The best golf swings, Snead, Nicklaus, Tiger, Hogan, Mickey Wright, have a holding pattern through the ball rather than a throwing pattern. Most of them pull the lead arm across the body rather than trying to keep it straight. I'm not putting Furyk in this company as he kept his lead arm straight but he kept the face squarer than Els.

Adam Scott is interesting because he flipped it around for most of his career but has spent the last couple of years trying to keep the face squarer. He got sick of losing to Brooks Koepka so he has changed his release pattern and is now pulling the club through rather than throwing it. He is still adjusting to the changes but has had a pretty good 6 months now.

He's 2nd is driving distance though and only 5'9". Whats kinds crazy is Bryson is number 1 in distance, lifting all those weights and bulking must of helped, lol.

That is just this year. The season hasn't really got started yet so the stats haven't really played out. Also, the longer you are off the tee, the harder it is to hit fairways statistically even if they are marginally off. Generally, most of the top players are the longer and better ball strikers on tour.

That is just stats from this year. The season hasn't even really gotten started. If you are longer off the tee, driving accuracy stats will not be as good, if even marginally off. Common sense. Generally, the top players in the world are the longer players and better ball strikers. You are not going to win tournaments playing from OB, hazards, and the rough.

struggles with driver but never needed it. Everything else..forget about it. Best ball striking for five or six years however you want to measure it.

I'll take a wild guess that you've never seen him live. Whilst you're obviously just trolling, you said best swing, not best looking, smoothest, or anything else. Without looking it up, up until the last couple of seasons he had more GiRs than anyone over 6 or 7 years I believe.

The last time I saw him play live was the Michelob Championship back in the 90's. I think he was paired with Lee Janzen the day I was there.

"Best" swing is super subjective, but I think that's the point. It's also best "swing", not best "results"...so basically aesthetically pleasing to you, or at least that's how I take it.

I have a buddy with one of those long fluid swings that gets compliments all the time. That swing is exactly the biggest weakness in his game though. His timing gets messed up and gets off-plane in the transition and can hit some horrible shots. I constantly kick his ass with my more compact, violent swing lol.

As for current swings, I like good looking swings that are more compact and repeatable for the normal guy. Rahm comes to mind, but who doesn't love Rory's move, achievable or not?

If were counting champions tour... can't believe nobody has mentioned Freddy... Aesthetically his tempo is just amazing. The change of direction is seamless and I just love watching the dude swing.

Im going to have to say Rors. His club head speed and ball speed is up there with the other bombers but hes a good amount shorter. His swing has a lot of power but yet its so balanced.

To be more clear, I was talking about who has the smoothest, best looking and hits the ball with what looks to be the least amount of effort. I'm not saying Stenson doesn't hit the ball great, he certainly does. But that big forward press and steep downward angle just looks ugly to me.
