Weather is just perfect that time of year. The humidity is low and the sun is out. Used to have the tour championship in Atlanta the first weekend in Nov, perfect. And Augusta is further south and 1000ft lower in elevation.

Trust me. Nights near freezing in November are rare here and in Augusta which is due south. If it sees 30 at night it’s 38-39. Much much bigger chance of unseasonable warm and seeing 50s at night. In this areas weather changes day by day. It’s all about the fronts , and which direction they come from. 75% of them have a north eastern wind Direction that means warmer air. It’s only the rare one that comes from the northwest and pushes south that gets any real cold air. That’s usually not until January and February.

How are we going to watch the final round on Sunday? If the NFL starts on time, CBS would have to choose between football and golf. Unless they can swap with NBC for the Sunday night game and do both.

Well said, 15. I hope, sincerely hope, that a vaccine has been developed, proven and life resumes. Not just for golf, but for everything. I'm having a hard time seeing that, this year, but maybe.

Gathering in large groups will probably be the final step in the normalization process. This will include things like attending sporting events. Don’t know what will be required to give the all clear for that. 14 straight days with no new cases nation wide? Could play without fans in the meantime as long as participants and ancillary staff are tested.

There are way too many logistics that you're bringing up here, and with too many unknowns. I can't see them taking all these risks to a play a golf tournament

the only problem they will have is daylight, they will have to bump up the start times because it will be getting dark a whole lot earlier and the shadows will play prominently that time of the year and the sun may come from a different direction....My sister lives in Atlanta and I have been there in Dec but never in November

In the future, they should continue to hold an event every year at ANGC in the fall and call it The Swami. More golf at Augusta. Win-win!!

Keep in mind who the Augusta club members are.

 

Bill Gates, Buffet, and I assume current and former CEOs of every industry including Pharma. You got former Secretary of State, etc. These guys are in a pretty good position and connected enough to understand what’s possible.

It probably all comes down to money. NBC won't give up Sunday night without a large payment. Golf Channel is affiliated with NBC, so that might make it a little tougher. I just don't see it going to cable, since there are so many cord cutters nowadays the revenue would have a huge fall off. Fox is out since they have football too. There is always ABC.

Goodell is a member @ ANGC - they'll make it happen with the NFL. Lots of options include moving games to Saturday, doubling up games on Monday night, additional teams with a bye week, starting the 1pm EST games earlier ...

I doubt they would move an NFL game a day early just to accommodate golf. A lot of ramifications there. Path of least resistance is probably swapping time slots or coverage to another network.

The 2020 NFL schedule is not even out yet. Adjustments can and will be made.

it's doable ... threesomes off the tees on the weekend ... get it in before X time ... get the nfl/cbs to slide a bit ... besides, cbs covers the cowboys a lot, and we know they ain't gonna be in contention in november ...

If the alternative is no Masters, I'll take the Masters in the fall 10/10 times. That said, the Masters usually signifies Spring and the real start of golf season, to me, so the fall will certainly be different.

I wonder if TW serves a turkey dinner...? haha

A fall Masters would be an interesting experience, but part of me says the Masters is so stepped in tradition, if it can't be what it's always been, it's best to just skip this year.
