To answer the OP's question. None. I prefer to play what has worked for me and not what clubs are trending.

I always loved Lynx equip as a kid bc of Couples, but couldn't afford any of it. The day I found a Lynx driver headcover at a thrift shop, I bought it and took it straight home and put on my Spaulding driver. Ha.

And not a club per se, but I was always drawn into Lefty's putting style so I starting putting with a mid-mallet and implementing a forward press in my putting stroke about 12-15 years ago. Still do and am a pretty good putter. (No claw/pencil though)

I almost bought the MP-62 back when Luke Donald was playing them. They were the first forged players iron I ever hit (a used set at Golfsmith), but ended up getting the MP-57 because they were cheaper, new, and seemed like they would be more forgiving.

To respond to the second part of your post it can be both. You can be influenced and see if they work for you.. if you play what has worked for you in the past you never find out if there is currently something better.

Point taken but being a left handed golfer being "influenced" is not accurate. None of the clubs I currently have in rotation are used because somebody else played them. Not a one. For instance my most recent set of irons are J15CBs. While I like them I keep going back to my TA 845s and original RAC LT irons because I play better with them. Again I've never tried a club because some pro has played them. Of course we are all different. What makes you decide to play a club will never be the same as me or any other WRX member. No one size fits all.

Pro use is a funny thing but you have never ever tried a club because you thought a players swing or even physical build was similar to yours. It’s like advertising...sometimes we’re not even aware of it. I have never bought and used a club solely because a certain player did but have certainly tried some. A few even seemed a good fit.

Im not sure what the left handed part has to do with it. If something Mike Weir was using caught my eye I might have tried it. Unless you feel some clubs are only good for a certain dexterity?

When JP was much younger he couldn’t afford such pro clubs...and when he got so he could afford such a thing, he no longer cared about that sort of thing...just happened that way.

Cant say i bought anything just because of a particular tour guy, but its nice to see tour players playing similar equipment. Some validation in my mind i suppose, but I also know that they arent playing anything off the rack and probably 99 percent of what they get is different from retail.

As for the thread, I bought a 2014 big bertha alpha because Phil used it, or rather I wanted a Callaway and made sure somebody good used the club before I pulled the trigger.

To a degree, yes. First, I ditched my 5 iron for a 5 hybrid after watching Lydia Ko rack up wins with a 5h in her bag. She was deadly with that club, and I figured that if it was good enough for her, I should take the plunge, as I was struggling with the mid-iron. I didn't go with her specific brand, but it got me off the fence.

I played numerous Mizuno MP models over a period of nine years. When I got fit in 2018 I really wanted to stick with the brand. I tried the JPX line, and really wanted to like them. However, I didn't care for the feel, and the numbers weren't great. The best of the others were Ping i200s. I was never a fan of Ping products, but almost all of the LPGA pros bagging Pings at the time were playing the i200s, including my favorite player In Gee Chun. Now, I certainly wouldn't have purchased the clubs if the numbers weren't good, but the fact that the pros were successful with the clubs convinced me that it wouldn't be a bad choice. They've been solid performers since.

Hmmm I think I went to get Artisan wedges and putters not because of who used them but more for what they have made for Tour players for so long and how they are trusted by the best players in the world.

Same. Always liked Mizzys and Donald's swing. Ended up getting the MP-53s instead as our swings were not as much alike as I had hoped.

the PM Grind 1.0 wedges because of the man with "calves like Adonis" of course. i first got the 58* with stock KBS S+ shaft that i couldnt use to save myself inside the 90m mark, then got a 56* for a sand wedge which is magic.

 

thought long and hard about getting a Ping Bubba signature edition driver, but paying the big up-charge for a pink version of what i have didnt make sense.

SeeMore FGP - Zach Johnson. It actually helped my putting by promoting a belly putter like stroke getting rid of forward press.

Nike VR Pro Ltd driver - not that Tiger gamed that model, but I always had a Nike preference because of him and Jordan. Was a solid club.
