I don't think he is. He approaches everything methodically and scientifically. I am sure he thinks his body is his temple and wouldn't do anything to wreck the temple.

One big question is will he be able to control a 340 yard tee shot. You watch those long drive guys and they only have to hit 1 out of 8 into a grid that is 50 yards wide.

I don't think it's totally out of the realm of possibility. Going the other way, I lost 75 pounds in 3 months doing extensive exercise and calorie deficits. I remember watching My 600-lb Life and one of the people on the show who has since passed away unfortunately, once he got out of the rehab facility put on something ridiculous like 5 pounds a day until he had managed to pack on 250-275 pounds in like 3-4 months. It was nuts. Don't forget he didn't do this all since Quarantine. That's not that crazy. If you are working out 3x a day, bulking properly, and eating and drinking the right supplements to get you there I think it's possible. That equals 0.22 pounds of fat per day, which I mean, weight yourself after a big meal, you can sometimes put on 2-3 pounds on a really bad day if you don't watch.

The guy is a millionaire. AFAIK he doesn't have a girlfriend and he's 26 years old. He's in quarantine and has access to the best personal trainers in the world and he has a very dedicated mind. He says to them okay, I'm halfway to where I want to be. I've got nothing but time, let's do this. Guy probably did nothing but eat, sleep, workout, and play video games. What else does he have to do? He doesn't have a job to go to, he doesn't have kids, a wife, girlfriend. He doesn't have to go shopping. He can't really see his friends. So he works out, plays golf, plays video games and repeat. It was the same with me, I lost my weight from July through early October. I was off school for 2 months so I had nothing better to do and I had broken my arm so I couldn't really do much else either, so I went for long walks and did exercises that didn't really require too much arm movement and boom, 75 pounds later here I am. It seriously wasn't that hard.

All lifting can be bad for you if form is off.

But yes, high bar squat improvement vs weight gain. see how much he has actually improved. His program should be to get better at golf not just add weight.Wow that was some determined weight loss by yourself. well done sir.

You do realise that muscle gain is limited by protein symphasis, no you can not put on that much muscle in that time with out pharmacological help. If everything is perfect past newbie gains; 0.5lbs per week as a max but it is certainly not a linear progression.

Thank you. I definitely did not do it very healthily I will say that. I don't know much (or anything really) about body building and gaining muscle. I was more in the camp of "I'm fat, I want to be skinny" and just did that. Marking 8 years as a string bean this October and proud of it lol. I should probably tone up at some point and will do but I'm also very scared of seeing that scale tick higher, even if it is for healthy reasons.

I just want him to go full blown meathead as a gimmick too. Like we all though he really was hamming it up with his initial character, bringing protractors and T-Squares on the green, wearing a lab coat stuff like that. He's a performer as much as anything

So i really want a performance here. Like he needs to use "bro" in his interviews all the time, always carry a shake with him everywhere, petition the tour to allow collared tank tops, put his clubs in a large gym bag instead of a golf bag... Plus before every round he should have someone oiling him up to get his muscles really shiny.

Bryson seems to have applied a logical progression of optimizing human performance and equipment to get the best results possible. Walker is reminiscing about some magical feel of the X100's. I would predict Brysons' efforts will yield more fruitful results than Walker's. Walker is a good character, I just hate to see him hung up on steel shafts chasing feel (2/14 FW on day 2).

One arm DB or kettlebell snatches would be way safer, no offense but most golfers don't have proper weight lifting technique, still strengthens that shoulder girdle. Other exercises like you mentioned front squats but I'd possibly even limit them to half squat, better matches the position in golf vs full ROM. Others would be over head presses from the front never back to avoid that impingement and other core work. Could go more into it but not the place to lay out a full golf workout program.

 

Source, have a S&C degree and was a high level T&F athlete before golfing.

Having been close to the competitive weightlifting/powerlifting/football scene in my youth I just laugh at all these comments about how he wouldn't use PEDs because he's "scientific" or "High IQ" or "his body is a temple" or whatever. Haha. Sure. Let me tell you that PED use is WAY more common than you realize until you've actually been around the competitive athletics scene. The people you see getting popped for PED use are just the tip of the iceberg.

That being said Bryson just looks like a guy who's been working out and eating a ton of food. Lots of his weight gain is fat. Which is totally normal.

If he shanks one low with the driver... someone is going to die.

Swinging that fast all the time is going to destroy his body not to mention the weight training... we dont hit thousands of golf balls the way a pro does so it doesnt effect us as bad if we do it.. i dont suggest it because it hurts lol. I appreciate his thinking though and it is clever. Rory rips it 350 without flinching tho so...
