Taylormade SIM 2.0

Had a warranty claim with my sim and Taylormade is completely out so they are sending me a sim2 instead.

So you lose your driver and it's moveable weight track for a non moveable weight with a blue paint job?

New is not always better. My buddy had a taylormade hybrid, caved face and they replaced with newer... Newer that hooked on him until he sold it for nothing on Kijiji. I get that shiny is shiny new but I think testing overall will show no significant improvement just a loss on directional assistance aka no more track.

Fingers crossed it actually gets done properly. We can share some shaft graphic measurements here once everyone gets their stuff.

I just contacted GG through their online chat to add the note “no tipping”. Seemed fairly straightforward. Fingers crossed it actually works.

I just ordered through DSG because not able to through GG anymore.  And only the Max too.  But I tried going through their chat and they said there isn't anywhere they can add a note to the manufacturer.  Did they say how they were able to add the note?

You should basically always assume that Taylormade will tip when you're ordering 1" unless otherwise specified.

Had custom SIM2 Max with Ventus Blue w/ Velocore in the cart last night with no upcharge.  Went back tonight and it let me place the order with no upcharge...after my order was placed I went back to try and create a new custom order, sure enough the $250 upcharge was there...we'll see!

I really only try to post to add true value so here goes...

 

Extremely happy with my Sim w VENTUS  black 6X. Have 9* down at about 7.5 as I hit up a lot.  Great driver for me and could game it for years.  I was legit concerned I’d see no gains in Sim2 given what I’ve read so far/seen online.
 

Hit the Sim2 9 today with a Fuji Evo III that I gamed for a long time (letting a friend try my VENTUS).  Was VERY pleased with Sim2.  I’m not sure it’s longer at all.  But was crazy controlled.  Felt like Pings as described by loyalists.  There were swings that with my Sim, I’d be looking up and hard right or left; these were soft fades or draws, in play all day.

 

Also, the SIM had spots on the face that felt hollow to me wayward on the face (bad swings to blame) but the S2 seems to feel so solid across the hitting surface.  It was almost weird (in the best way possible).

 

Lastly, bc I hit up, I get “low groove syndrome” at times.  I lift up and out and ball hits very low on driver face.  I feel the deeper face really kept the surface on the ball when I did that.  For ME that’s a big gain.

 

Very good driver.  Depending on your tendencies; a great driver.  It’ll be ordered and in the bag.

That's strange considering it's the same customer service for GG and DSG.  The woman on my chat said that she added the note to my order and that I would receive email confirmation of the change in 24-48 hours.  I told her I wanted to add a note to the manufacturer to my existing order and it seemed like a normal ask for her.  I would give it another go, or call until you get someone knowledgeable.

So I ordered mine +.75" with the intention of tipping mine myself. Sounds like it will be coming 1" already (which is fine) and means I'll only have to butt trim it. I think I read it before, but Taylormade doesn't adjust for swingweight on custom orders do they? Ordering +.75", I am hoping they don't put a light weight in the head to account for length as I am going to shorten it.

This is my exact thoughts as well. I really enjoyed the feel of the face on Sim2 vs Sim. I felt like Sim2 was a little lower maintenance for my swing.

They MAY. Last time I talked with TM customer service they say they will try best to keep the swing weight match the spec SW for shortened/lengthened orders. I guess YMMV.

Appreciate it. I guess there is always hot-melting or lead tape to adjust. Easy to add rather than remove with these things.

I was told by customer service today that they do adjust for SW on custom orders. I asked how and they told me they have heads that are different weights.

 

still seems off... I followed up and asked if that meant the "weights" in the head are changed to different specs and they couldn't comment. IDK man...

I tried again this morning and they said they made a request to their internal team to add the note and I should receive email in 24-48 hours. 
 

I added a note in their about swing weight too since I ordered 0.75” long so I can cut myself. So hope it works.

FWIW I have several taylormade 'upcharge' shafts from a fitting cart and none of them are tipped. So either they fit people with untipped shafts and then tip them during the build which is insanely stupid - or they really have no idea what they're doing.

I was able to grab a new Sim2 with Ventus Blue 6x for no up charge from GG.  Hoping they don’t cancel my order.

I am not seeing an upcharge on GG with custom orders on the Sim 2 max for the Ventus blue or black velocore shafts.  However, I do see the upcharge on the sim2 custom module.  I ordered a Sim 2 max with ventus black 6s shaft yesterday so we'll see if they honor it.

I’m guessing this will be the case and it won’t get to Taylormade. You’d think the tipping would be one of questions asked in custom orders just like when you order through Taylormade.

Never an option to add a note. She said I should have added comments when I ordered. I chuckled and asked her how. She went through and said oh you can't. Then she told me I was SOOL.  I'll see if I can get TM

Taylormade told me they adjust the weights on the clubhead to get as near to the stated swingweight as possible. they only have so many weight denominations

I don’t know if this is frowned upon, so if a mod deems so I apologize. But with all the concern about TM and the way they handle custom orders I feel like it’s worthy to share given my experiences have been unbelievably positive to the point it’s the only place I’ll clubs.

 

Fairway Jockey, I believe, is partnered with True Spec, which fulfills and builds all of the custom orders on their behalf. I’ve gotten on the phone with the builders in the past, to make sure the specs and requests I want were clear. They have always been unbelievably professional and understanding and the clubs are tour truck quality when delivered. If concerns about head weight, tipping, hot melt, etc. are something you’re worried about I would give them a look.

 

In one instance I bought a shaft for a club that was already in my possession, but wanted to be sure the swing weight was specd correctly. So they coordinated the delivery of my fairway wood head to the build shop so that when installing the shaft they could apply the correct amount of hot melt to the head for me.
