Taylormade SIM 2.0

I put the SIM 8* up against the new SIM2 8* today when I got back home.  Both in my HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX.  At first the SIM2 was all over the place.  Probably due to me trying to kill it.  Even in that though, the ball speeds were consistently higher than the SIM.  Launch was lower with the SIM2 so even with higher ball speeds and similar spin #’s, the carry was a fraction less than the SIM.  On a whim I hit the HZRDUS Black that came with the SIM2, but knowing it was lower launch and spin put it on the higher setting.... instantly higher launch and the surprising thing was not much more spin..  I put it back in the Blue at the same setting and it was slight cuts and Deep...  I’m giving it a rest until tomorrow but on a small test it looks like it might, might be a winner.  I’m hesitant to switch immediately with a trip Sunday to Florida with a couple rounds on tap, but it is impressive ball speed for sure.  On average SIM was 165 and SIM2 was 167.5.  It wasn’t my best swing day as I have reached 170 with the SIM with this same combo.

I forgot to add..  I hit a few high on the face with the SIM2... below 1000 spin on both..  just went nowhere

I’m wondering if mine will be delivered. It has traveled one state in 4 days.  I’m thinking the sled dogs FedEx is using are not Iditarod quality.

There will be a ton of 1” tipped Ventus on the BST in the next few weeks, with most of the people who think they can handle the tipping, won’t be able to.

I peak at 115, and 168 ball speed and the black 6x at 0.5” is about the most I can handle, but could easily go 1” on the blue.

I would say that’s the range to handle both shafts, as I’ve spent time with both of them untipped and tipped.

I don’t know about a ton but there will definitely be some on there. Who knows how many of us actually got the deal. Personally, half the allure was getting the Ventus for free. Don’t get me wrong, I was still going to get the Sim2, but I had every intention of getting some stock shaft and putting my gamer in it before the deal. Based on seeing your screenshots and numbers you definitely know what you’re talking about with this shaft. Hopefully there are a bunch of 120+ SS buyers scouring the BST in the coming weeks lol

For the right price I’ll buy one for an experiment 😁

I went into golf galaxy back in January, tested the sim 2 a sim 2 max, ended up making the purchase at the store. I have yet to hear anything regarding shipping and the order can't be located on my account because it was done as a special web order in store. Anyone else have the same issue and maybe an answer?

I’d try calling Taylormade directly and explaining your situation and seeing if they can look up your order by name since you don’t have the order number from GG. For some reason when you order goods from DSG/GG that are fulfilled and shipped by a vendor, they provide their order number, but no order number from the vendor. They must get some confirmation from the vendor that the order was placed with an order number, but when I call GG/DSG regarding custom orders, they aren’t helpful.

Ordered mine this past Monday 2/15 from PGA Tour SS.  Got fitted for the smoke green 60 in 6.5 Flex.  However on TMs website it says this combo won't ship out until April 5th????

I was seeing the same thing. Just last week the expected ship date from taylormade was 5 days, now it’s months.

I think I might have pulled the trigger on a bit too much shaft. Ventus black 6s. Have one with Ventus blue on the way as well so will give that a try in both heads. Looks great, sounds amazing.

Yea I saw the same when I put my order in last week.  The manager said it should be a quick turnaround time according to TM so who knows.

The RDX Blue is a great shaft and one that will be pretty popular this year.

Don’t you just hate when DJ  has not found the SIM2 Head to use yet, but of course Marketing.. Marketing.. Marketing... SIM2 gear and place the SIM under the new head cover quickly. 😛

Your point being? And what's the 3X Marketing claim here? I personally have found Taylormade's marketing push this year extremely tame and I consume a lot of golf media.

Also, I’ve had two full demo sessions with all the new driver releases and for me personally, the Sim 2 was the clear-cut winner.  I think they all perform well, it comes down to personal preference in terms of look and feel and sound.  For me, the Sim 2 just fit my eye the best and I think because of that I made my best swings with it.  I was getting 3-5 mph more ball speed and 20-30 more yards

I just went a did a thing; purchased an autoflex 505. Gonna decide which sim2 head to pair it with. Was a tough choice this year but I still like the feel/sound of the sim over all else.
