Need some good stand bag options....my bag sux

Recommended Posts

My last couple have been Sun Mountain that we ordered through their school team program.  They are comfortable and have held up very well.  My stand is still in good working order after 7 years and very few of our high schoolers have broken their bags.

We have an older version of the Collegiate Bag.

i got my 2020 ping hoofer and have had about 20 rounds with it.  single greatest purchase ive made. the bag is light, has every pocket i need. the straps for the shoulder are well cushioned and easy to wear. the legs are also perfectly made.  the bag itself is great, the pockets are all well thought out. a water bottle pocket thats easily accessible. a ball pocket. a tee/ranger finder/accessories  pocket thats magnitized for easy access. well worth the money.

I have an Ogio Shredder I like a lot. But have been gaming a Wilson Exo since last year which is a hybrid. Pretty awesome bag and a more comfortable carry than the Ogio

I have a hoofer lite. It’s easy to carry. Because of the stand system it sits fine in a cart. I tried a Taylormade flextec but I did not like the self adjusting straps. Seemed like I could never get it to sit right on my back. The hoofer has been great.

Ping hoofer 2020 is great tones of pockets and just has a lot of little things you would not even think to add.

G/Fore Daytona bag:  Great stand bag that's easy to carry (Single or double straps available), works well on a cart, and looks really good.

The bag gets compliments for its looks.  I never had that happen before with a bag.

I've tried many different bags over the years and the Daytona bag is the overall best bag for me.  Sun Mountain is second best; Jones is third.

I just found that the sun mountain 2.5 has the 14 way option which is what I've been looking for. I'm set on SM because I believe they are maybe the only ones that have the dividers that actually go all the way to the bottom. Was initially looking at the 4.5 but 2.5 might be plenty for me. Only concern is it doesn't seem to have a small tee pocket above the ball pocket??

it depends what you are looking for. I've been carrying for 10+ years and have used a lot of bags. Personally i don't find a major difference in a couple of pounds once you start getting your clubs and stuff in there

The Ping Hoofer 14 is my alltime favorite. It's a rugged bag , i've always liked the Ping straps as they are pretty comfortable and the 14 divider thing is cool for a carry bag. I'm convinced there is a gremlin in the regular hoofer that mashes all your grips together at the bottom of the bag so you can't get the clubs out, so the 14 is nice

I also own an Ogio Fuse, which is a super classy looking bag and is pretty comfortable. Though i find the straps a tad less comfortable than the Pings

the super light bags, i find i never like the straps. And there's the psychological aspect that it always feels like if i put one more thing in there the material will just tear. These 2.5lb bags are like fat guys in dress shirts that are too small LOL

Maybe not the answer you're looking for, but I switched to a push cart this year. Picked up a very good condition Bag Boy push cart for $40 off of Facebook Marketplace. Found it much easier than carrying and still get the pleasure of walking. Sounds silly, but if you're going to consider this, get one with a cup holder. It's the only thing I wish mine had

If you're intent on carrying (which I still do when I play 9 or a par 3 course), as almost everyone has said, Sun Mountain 2.5 all the way.

I can't carry much anymore due to back issues, but I got a Hoofer Lite a couple months ago and it has been great when I carry it.  Built well, plenty of pockets, and light enough when loaded up.  Hard to find anything really wrong with it.  I have also carried a Srixon Z85 and while it's a touch heavier, it is SUPER comfortable... another really good bag with three grab handles up top and a big top which eliminates club tangle.  The only bag I can still get away with carrying is the Jones players, but it does not have a stand.  Love that one.
