Brooks to Srixon golf balls?

mizuno player

Recommended Posts

  • mizuno player changed the title to Brooks to Srixon golf balls?

He was also testing and put in play a Mavrik last season but wasnt signed by Callaway.

With that said, as I mentioned in another thread on here, maybe he's realizing the magic wore off and his wins will now be few and far in between. Sponsor money is nice when you're back in the 1-non-major-win-per-year category.

Someone mentioned Callaway was set to 'sign someone else' this season...

Brooks has played the Pro-V1 for years without compensation from Titleist since Nike exited stage left from making gear. Likely him just testing the waters. Play what works best.

Real question is what ball did DJ play at Kapalua last week since his profile on the TM website does not show him using the TP5 line at this moment.

Also interesting is TM signed Tommy Fleetwood but doesn't show him on the TM site as a staff player.

If he was seen with Srixon reps then it’s definitely pay for play.  If BK wanted to test other balls, since he’s supposedly not compensated by the current ball brand in his bag, he could easily do that in his own time, and privately.

Srixon makes great balls, but like many others not stamped “Titleist”, they have to carefully select who can represent the brand to claim the small market not looking for the Titleist brand.

Brooks would be an interesting fit with Srixon. He’s brash whereas most Srixon endorsees are pretty mild mannered. I’m not sure how Srixon markets Brooks since he won with a Titleist ball and has fought injuries since.

What I'm wondering is. Who was the last pro playing at a peak or high level that switched balls and had no issues? Besides Tiger.

I'm sure there are some I can't think of any. That's what happens when your on the other side of fity.

Rory, when he went to Nike, maybe? I know he had trouble either when he first went to Nike or when he first went to TM and I can’t remember.

Could be. I know most current balls are similar. But... When you're used to looking at a certain ball for years it can tough to change. I know I'm my case I tried to switch to the TP5X.  When I putted the dimples looked different enough it affected my putting. That's how finniky this game is. And I'm not anywhere close to an elite golfer. ( Except in my mind!!)

Damn, all the clubs around here and they have Brooks out at the Grand?! Lmao.

He should have been testing at Santaluz, DMCC, LJCC, etc.

That's the most telling, low budget fact in the whole tweet.

This has big money written all over it. The fact that he is testing irons and golf ball leads me to believe he is signing with them. I'd have to think maybe Brooks' agent came down in asking price. That consistent money coming in with questionable knee problems at times would be nice. Seems like a good fit but definitely have an eye on how woods and ball will perform for him.

Guess the pros don't play them more than a couple of holes so not as much risk as them splitting them like the rest of us.

I play Srixon and have never had one split, unlike the TM balls, which I really like, but watching two halves of a ball travelling (not very far) down the fairway makes you think twice about what you are playing.

I agree it could be big money. Thought he was still being paid his equipment money from Nike through the end of the contract as long as he didn't sign with anyone.

Maybe that portion of the contract is up?

Wouldn't be surprised. I think he signed that deal in 2015-16? He Hadn't won any majors at that time so I wouldn't be surprised if it was a 4-5 year deal. There has been other switches at this same time too.

Definitely with Nike he had trouble. He switched for the start of 2013 and had a horrendous year.
