How could anyone be a fan of Patrick Reed?

The ONLY thing he did that was dumb(but not against the rules) was not put the ball back where it was right away. Every player is allowed to mark the spot where they think the ball might be embedded and lift it to see if it is. If you don't understand that, then I can't help you. If the rules official thought he broke the rules he would been penalized. End of story.

I don’t need or want your help! There’s no argument about whether the rules were broken. That ship has sailed. He broke etiquette, because he is of weak character. If you don’t see that then nobody can help you.

Brad Fabel never saw the original lie.  How could he possibly make a ruling on it if he never saw he?  Fabel had to take Reed's lie at face value and make his ruling based on that lie.

This is SO simple I don't get why so many of you golfers can't understand it.  Reed picked up his ball knowing it wasn't embedded. That's the rules infraction.  He knew if he showed a rules official the original lie he woudn't have gotten relief.

It's Reed that needs to move along.  He should be a driving range pro hustling games for $20.

Why did Reed not get penalized then?

You know for a fact he knew it wasn't embedded? That's amazing!

Watch the video replay.  The ball bounced up a foot, maybe two, into US Open thickness rough.  If it embedded after that bounce it would have embedded after the drop.

So, ya, I know it for a fact.

Go do your own drop test from a foot or two.  Find out for yourself.

Reed didn't have the advantage of the replay before he got to his ball.

He didn't need to see the replay.  All he had to do was look at the ball.  You look at it and it's either embedded or not.  If it's unclear, you DON'T touch the ball.  You call over an official or a playing competitor to witness.

The only thing the replay does is show that there's no way it could have been embedded after a one foot bounce.

Looks like some late to the party folks want to get in the loudest and spiteful (and nonsensical) accusations.

I've got a yardage book I'm working on and need to keep filling in trees, yardages, you name it, and I need to confirm putter lie on a project with LaMont, and I need to read and reread anything I can find on Srixon zx7s so I can numb my mind with them to the point I won't be thinking I need them!

If I was Jay Monahan I'd have a private conversation with Reed.  I'd tell him the next time anything like this happened that he was going to get fined $500,000 and suspended from the tour for 3 months, and the time after that it'd be a lifetime suspension.

And for those of you who are defending Reed saying "all he did was follow the rules guy's advice" realize this, the cheat was him picking up his ball KNOWING it was not embedded BEFORE a rules official was called.  He just wanted to drop his ball out of a bad lie and pretended it was embedded to do it.

He's everything golf stands against.

Because he doesn’t have a history of being a dishonest disgrace of a human.

this is just one more bullet point on Reed’s already hilariously terrible resume.

Man. You are just TRIGGERED. This is not something you need to take to heart. The guy you wanted to win didn’t win and my guess is that guy was one of the other 155 players in the field. What if Bubba won? People can’t stand him. Sergio Garcia (did he even play?).
Reeds resume includes a pretty not awesome childhood with documented child abuse, a stellar amateur and college golf career (minus the underage alcohol incident) and 9 or 10 wins on Tour? I like the fact he doesn’t need to explain himself. Everyone is always so quick to apologize and it isn’t the Pat Reed way.

You actually crap all over your own point. There are a lot of jerks who have won golf tournaments. Nobody cares if someone is *****ly or off-putting or a jerk. That is nothing new and there are plenty of jerks coming up through the pipeline. Nobody actually gives a damn that some jerk won a golf tournament.

People are just tired of the rule skirting and subsequent creation of some victim narrative. There is literally no evidence of any child abuse by Patrick's parents. If they were abusive, why isn't the sister on his side? Justine is making all that crap up. She says the parents just viewed him as a meal ticket, well it's pretty clear that she's the one doing that. That's the thing with narcissistic, sociopathic abusers. They like to accuse others of things that they themselves are doing.

There is zero emotion tied to my responses. I just dislike Reed and think he’s bad for golf. He’s the most disliked player I’ve ever heard of in my life of watching the PGA tour and it’s not just one incident that has created the reputation. That’s why we’re not talking about Rory here.

On the contrary, he's great for golf.

Dat short game though

😂

PR is great for the game!

Keeps everyone on top of rules knowledge. That’s very helpful.

Plus, can’t put a price on the hilarity of Faldos expressions of exasperation.

PR should steal his potato croquette at the Masters dinner!

His stellar amateur career also had cheating and stealing from teammates. Where there’s years of smoke, there’s Patrick Reed.

Lol, he certainly has a lot of people talking about it who already play golf. But the only reason anybody outside of golf is talking about it is for negative reasons. The sports world is certainly aware of the cheater winning again, but that’s it.

Allegedly. From other "kids". His college coach , Josh Gregory is still his swing instructor so I guess he's a terrible human also since he associates with Patrick.

Kinda laying it on a bit thick here? As far as I know he hasn't murdered anyone, deprived anyone of their livelihood, sold drugs, or what have you.
