How is removing your shirt (or pants) on a pro tour OK?

Sebastian Cappelen removed his shirt at the Honda (2021) to hit a shot out the water. Henrik Stenson removed his shirt and pants in 2009 to hit a shot at Doral.

 

How is this allowed on a pro tour? You are required to wear long pants but can remove your shirt and pants whenever you like. Ridiculous.

 

Could a player strip entirely naked if they didn't want to get mud on their underwear?

 

Another point I'd like to make: These guys get their clothes for free. It's OK to get some mud on your shirt. Throw it in the bin after your round if it's ruined. Your clothing sponsor will send you another.

To be fair, If there’s no rain in the forecast I doubt they carry it.

I get trying to play out of an area that’s wet or muddy, but knee deep in a mud hole? I’ll pass take the dropped shot and move one.

How is it that some people think taking off clothes is easier, and acceptable on TV camera, than putting on rain gear and not making a spectacle of oneself.  Are they that in need of attention?  Professional, NO WAY.

 

I only recall one time playing the ball out of a pond, got some mud on my cloths and let it dry, it fell off later, all was good.  I live in CA and carry rain gear most of the time.

I hardly leave the house without taking off my shirt and pants at some point. Grocery stores, malls, Target. People want to see this
