I hope GD is right.  I've used Ping irons exclusively for 40+ years, and the i500's were EASILY the most disappointing set I ever owned.  I have great faith in Ping's "second edition" of a particular set, and I hope this is one of their finest.  They are beautiful clubs.

Based on the US sales info flyer and the link to Japanese site can someone explain to me why Japanese market is 1° stronger lofts? Also, seems like Asian market only likes lightweight higher launching steel, which may be the answer to the question.

Can’t really tell from pics, but I feel like they have a thicker sole. Also does anyone know what shafts there are offering as stock?

Looks like the sole is a little wider but more beveled in the long irons compared to the i500. Also appears to have less offset than the i210.

 

This U wedge is a thing of beauty.

Man they nailed it with looks and design for me! Perfect size and look in addition to them being a progressive set.  Love my Gen3's but really looking forward to getting these and testing them against each other.

If this is true, I could easily see myself with a set of MMT 105x i525s (maybe MMT 125 in the wedges).

These are the category of irons I should be playing. I don't need extreme forgiveness, I don't have the iron game of a true player.

 

I'm a big Ping fan too. If the feel isn't there, I'll be hugely disappointed.

Just be careful, these are very much not i210s if they're anything like the i500s (the i59 are much closer you'd think).  My brother had the i500s and hit them all over God's green earth, but moved to the i210s and they were night and day different for him.

 

Just something to consider, the "players distance" irons are an excellent for me, but not for everyone.
