I was looking forward to the first Tiger/Phil-free Ryder Cup.

Qualifying is still open but they changed the qualifying to 6 autmatics/6 picks.  He was nowhere and even with the extra points for the major is only 16th.  Outside of winning another major or maybe a WGC he's not qualifying.  If he's in good form I'm sure playing well at a large waterside Pete Dye course will help but he's going to have to play consistently at a level he hasn't in years.

Woods’s 70 was the third worst round in the top 13. But you’re right about Mickelson’s over par final round too. Both players held on to win. Woods’s huge shot was at 16. That birdie allowed him to come in with 4/5 on 17 and 18. Tiger’s 35 on the back nine wasn’t anything special, other than the fact that it lead to his win haha. Who knows, if he need a 32 or 33 on the back, could he have done it..  

Phil’s dramatic scene from the rough on 18 was definitely more captivating than Woods’s stumble on 18. The chunk doesn’t matter and is never talked about, but really.. what was that..?!

I love the thought that given the question 'Is golf art or is it science', I want to see Phil there because I love artists and two American lefties are the most artistic golfers on the planet. (With young MacIntyre following in their shoes, what is it about lefties?)

 

So, he moves my needle and I'm going to watch anyway because it's more than an exhibition, it's a keenly fought contest, it matters because there's hurt when you lose.

This guy, RIP, was really nice guy but the biggest drinker in town! We drove into town one day to eat brunch  and saw him already drinking at the pub. Then we go to pub at like 9pm and he still be there!

 

He would lead the singing of the National anthem at closing time and then the bar staff would start saying...

Mostly.  I think contempt is a healthy thing if the one feeling it is a person of no value to a business.  Meaning in plain words - an asshats opinion isn’t valued by anyone except other asshats , and we try to cull  those at the door if we can.  😂

 

So yes. We don’t want contemptuous feelings from actual patrons who are respectful and valuable.  But the dregs can fall in a hole and it won’t bother me. They make their choice with their actions.  I refuse to fake smile to them for their pennies.
