From what I read, punk kids and an ill-mannered Dad in a KF qualifier.  Really, making a big deal over someone not helping him find his lost ball and Player B dad throwing lighter fluid on the fire by saying "you could hit it straight" and being tough with a club. 😛  Both players and his Dad deserve serious consequences.

I’m guessing player A threw the punch.   I could see punching your playing partner if he said he nailed your sister and his mom to, that is justifiable, and the lie I would be telling in this case.

I bet Player B still calls his dad "Daddy"....

Full story from a source:

Player A who had been slow hits it left into trouble. Player B and Players B dad don't help him look.

At green Player A says "you could have helped look"

Player B dad says "you could hit it straight" And it was on. (Quotes not exact)

So while coming to blows on the course is never acceptable (it isn’t settle the argument with good play on the course, if it can’t be solved that way take it to the parking lot or elsewhere). I’ll admit that I’ve been less than enthusiastic a few times looking for a playing competitors ball, sometimes if I think you’re just being a total jerk (for example berating and official and members at a Florida Open a la Tyler Hock) I’m not looking that hard for your golf ball. Other than sportsmanship is there any obligation for a player to look for another’s golf ball? Genuinely curious for an answer here. Should that father have said something, definitely not.

I laughed and enjoyed this story though not going to lie.

Player A tried to turn his back and walk away.  Player B then jumped him, Player C tried to intervene and dad tried to swipe him with a putter for trying to break it up.

exactly tough guy B jumped him from behind and loser daddy needed a putter.  i'm sure the kid doesn't have any talent to even sniff pro golf, just daddy money.

Who’s the asshat who says “ you could have helped look “?   I make it a point to help look for no other reason than to watch for cheating. But in no way am I obligated to do so.  Who brings that up?  Very childish.  But even more so is the other guy who has dad running around speaking for him.  When two babies met.

Oh I agree.  Sounds like a whole group of stupid.  Each vying for the title of king shat of turd mountain 😂....  I’d say Dad is the cause of the over boiled temper.  Usually , not always but usually peers can keep it below fisticuffs.  But outside agents are never a help.

Thank goodness we are all more civilized than these heathen.

Ya, no need for such crass behavior, interrupting everyone’s round on the course to make a point.

Last time a guy hit into me I just gave him a nice wave and finished the round.

Then I went to the parking lot and spray painted his windshield black.

In general, there is no obligation. Given that the group was out of position (according to what was posted) there's no logical reason to refuse to help if you are able to do so without making the pace situation worse. It's not like they hadn't thought about it. They clearly made an active, conscious decision not to help despite the pace of play issue that could easily get all three of them burned.

Not to mention, there is no obligation to declare a ball lost prior to expending the maximum allowable search time.

I don't expect that kid or his dad to remain involved in college golf or any tour play anytime soon (if ever again).

I get it.  It seems like its just sportsmanship and I'd guess, to get eyes on your opponent to make sure there isn't all of a sudden a ball sitting up on a great lie, mysteriously.  But I get where the Dad is coming from, dont b**** about not getting help if you're hitting it all over the planet, IDK.  Honestly, seems like Player A has an attitude problem.  Getting help looking for your ball is an added bonus IMO.
