This is what drives me crazy about Mizuno

Lefty woods are not overly common, but anything but a 3/5 is a total crap shoot.

But to make a 3 and not make a 5? 🤣 It's tough to justify making something for 7% of the golfing market.

I wish they would stop wasting time on "lefty" clubs all together. Go play something else.

They might as well do that although I'm not quite sure why it bothers you.

You're asking a small (well, tiny) player in the woods market to cater to you so that you 'might' support them...  Threads like this are no different than ones complaining that small DTC don't offer more lefty options.  Most of the world, 10% are lefties.  US, MAYBE 25%, Canada, some regions are as high as 50%, and that is purely because of hockey.

It's a huge investment and no guarantee of return, just to have a full product line.  While they seem to have righted the boat of the last couple of generations, it's been pretty dismal for many, many years.

If anything, they should have focused more on better wedges and options for the previous 10 years than a woods department.  Stick to what you do well and claim to be better than all the rest.

It’s tough for lefties with fairway woods. If Callaway made the 16.5 degree version of the Epic Speed head for us, it would 100% be in my bag. Instead I bought a 16.5* TSi3 from Titleist. But if I wanted to pair it with a 7 wood, I’d have to buy it from a different company, because Titleist doesn’t make 7 woods for lefties this year.

Putters can be hard, too. Bettinardi, Scotty Cameron and Evnroll don’t make much for us.

Some smaller companies like Tour Edge make practically nothing for us.

If you’re a lefty and you want a company’s entire lineup available to you, Ping is as close as it gets. Titleist, Callaway, TaylorMade, Cobra and Srixon do pretty good jobs, with some holes in their lineups here and there. And after that it’s just a crapshoot.

All I know is, while I was frustrated with what Mizuno made available for lefties in the MP-20 range, I’ve gotten lucky with Mizuno’s last two rounds of iron offerings. The JPX 921 SEL with a Forged 4/5 and Tour 6-GW worked out perfectly. And I have my pre-order in already for the Mizuno Pro 223s.

I think of them like I think of Wilson -- a jack of many trades that make things for the widest audience.  That generally doesn't include us but sometimes does.  That is just how it is.

Yes, I wish they made a 5 wood, but I get it.  I'll use my 3-iron.  Problem solved.

Irons are cheaper to develop and manufacturer. I imagine tooling to build woods can be expensive and considering it's not even 10% of the possible market, I get it. It totally sucks, but I get it.

<edit> and this is why I choose to support little companies willing to make lefty gear. If it doesn't sell, they won't make it. If it's good, I'll likely buy it. 🤣

Agree on this.  PXG is the best along with with Ping.  Substantially all products are available in either dexterity.  Then it's titleist, imo, except for putters.  Then TM and Callaway.

I understand a small demographic and economy of scale. But I don't understand the mfg'ers (not just Mizuno). We read all time, average golfers have difficulty hitting a 3 wood off the deck. So, if your are going to make only one fw model, make a 5 wood, as it is a club most of the golfers in the small demographic can/will hit. Plus it is adjustable, so it can be adjust to a lower loft for the better golfer. Stepping down from my soap box.

For many of these golf companies it's about profitability.  They know what SKU's they sell to LH golfers so they stick to what makes them money.

This is thought provoking.  What is a golf company expected to do in order to act like one?  I mean this purely rhetorically as it's interesting to think about what, if any, are the obligations of a sporting goods manufacturer.

Mizuno is pretty spotty with lefty stuff, Bridgestone used to always kill me because i really wanted Bridgestone stuff back in the day.

It stopped upsetting me though a while ago. Eventually i just learned that there will always be something for lefties in pretty much whatever style you want.

Right now i have forged blades, players distance and SGIs all with the shafts i wanted. And 3 different custom putters. Not bad for a lefty!

I do. I have Callaway, Taylormade,Ping, Tour Edge and Titleist right now in my bag. I am a true club ho though and I like to try different stuff. Every time Mizuno comes out with something that looks a little interesting their offering for left hand sucks. I have to admit the wood offering doesn't bug me as much as when they came out with the 921 forged.  They made a 3 and 4 iron but it was too much effort to make them at least down to a PW. That's just stupid.
