Did the 1980 USA hockey team have a chance against the USSR? Soviets went in thinking they'd roll 10-3 like they did at MSG a week before opening ceremonies. 

 

I love the Prez and Ryder Cup. Will definitely still tune in and have two tv's streaming in the living room bouncing between college football and NFL.

I've only watched one President's Cup event, the last time they played in Australia.  I always find team events fun, and I like Match play formats in general.  I'll likely watch most of this event, and hope the INT Team puts up a fight.  Match play in general can produce some bizarre results from time to time.

 

And I would love to see the President's Cup get turned into something different.  It will never end up being ABC Tour vs. XYZ Tour.  But why not just do a Mixed Gender USA vs The World type event.  Top 8 men and Top 8 Women for both sides.  Mixed matched play 4 ball, same gender alternate shot, and FvF and MvM singles matches.  The format lends itself perfectly to mixed events.

This would certainly make the President's Cup more competitive and would be an interesting differentiator vs the Ryder Cup.

Pretty much anything would be better than the Prez Cup. It's just a pale shadow of the Ryder Cup and hasn't been competitive at all.

IMO one of the reasons the Presidents Cup has never reached the same stature as the RC is because it doesnt have the same vitriol, and spew the same emotions as have past RC...the RC could learn

to turn down the rhetoric a few notches and that includes NBC and their handling of it. I dont mind a spirited competition, but golf is still supposed to be a gentleman's game and I think many players and their fans have forgotten that

Remember that golf is played outside the US & Europe and by non-US & Europeans so plenty of interest in other parts of the world.

By that argument we should be better at it, at least in the past two decades of the Ryder Cup, than we are. 
 

Excepting last year our boys need the team practice.

I would argue the Presidents Cup has been more exciting then the Ryder Cup in recent years.

 

The 2019 Presidents Cup was probably the best team event of 2010s bar none. The Internationals were up 2 points going into the final day and it came down to the last couple matches. And in 2015 the US won 15.5-14.5.

The last 4 Ryder Cups have basically been blowouts

2014- Europe wins 16.5-11.5 (The US press conf. was hilarious)

2016- US wins 17-11 (Though Rory-Reed and Phil-Sergio are probably 2 of the best singles matches ever)

2018- Europe wins 17.5-10.5

2021- US wins 19-9, Probably the worst performance I've ever seen by a losing side in a team competition. Outside of the Rahm/Sergio duo no one showed up
