Looks awesome! Wonder how they upgraded it since it's not Tour 2.0?

Didn't they also dual source their shafts from Aldila?  I think if you cut the grip off the old tour shafts you could sometimes see who made them, possibly completely wrong on both fronts.

Add in Fujikura to that as well at one time too.  Maybe I'm wrong on that.  I think it depended on the year they were produced (G30/G was one company, upgraded G400 to now was another).

They did before Aldila was bought, Most recently it was UST mamiya I believe.

You are likely spot on here.  i was going back to the G 30 days.  The look and feel of the original Ping Tour shaft reminded me a lot of the UST Elements Chrome.

I miss Aldila as a legitimate player in the shaft game.

They still have tons of good offerings out there, plus for us mortals I can afford those shafts a lot easier than dropping $300+ every time I want to try something new/different.

You still see several of the Tour Blues out there in fairways and hybrids on the PGA bags along with the occasional Rogue in a driver/fairway.

Not to mention they are stock in a lot of clubs.  The Rogue 130 lines have been available in Taylormade, Callaway, Cobra, and Ping for the last 2-3 years.  Easy enough that way to give them a waggle and see how they perform when they are already attached to a club.

Good point.  I know my brother was fit into his G425 with the Rogue 70x over every $300+ shaft out there.  Sometimes they just work.

Very true!  I'm always thrilled to be fit into a "stock" shaft offering.  I absolutely love(ed) the Tour green and a few different Rogues, including the non 125 and 130 MSI ones.  At this point we haven't seen much in the way of an upgrade in a while.

I played the older Ping Tour shaft in a Callaway and Cobra head after moving on from the Ping driver.  Hope this version has similar success for a lot of golfers.

Reminds me in my younger and dumber days spending up for the TM made shafts like the ShaqX and the Bleex.  Pretty sure they were just Mitsubishi shafts, but they were soooo cool.

Was having a beer with my buddy who works ping tour…fuji makes this shaft and is their lowest launching/spinning offering…just what I was told

Very interesting, I'll have to see the specs on it for sure.  I know spin is always a bugaboo with Ping drivers, even the LST.

Pretty close to the Elements Chrome. I had the after market Elements Chrome, as well the Tour 65S in the G head back then it was really close, just slightly softer tip was what I felt in the Tour 65S

Not tried the new Tour 65 but it has my attention as great value for money if it comes from UST

Even guys on tour have played the PING Tour shafts...I think they feel great.  They put a lot of effort into their stock offerings.  Speaking of the Rogue I was really surprised the newest ones never picked up traction.  You see a Silver here of there in a driver and the Black in a some fairway woods (Homa) but man back in the day the original Rogue had so much play on tour!  It was the Ventus of 7 years ago!

I think Aldila was bought by MRC and they really haven't done anything with Aldila since. I'd be shocked if they had a rep out on tour like all the other brands do.

Is the black version the same as the normal tour shaft just with a different finish or is it a different profile all together?

From what our rep told us, the standard Tour shaft will continue to be available. The Tour Black is its low launch/low spin counterpart for the most aggressive swingers. These will be offered in conjunction with RDX Red and Kaili Black, and a new PING shaft produced by Fujikura at sub-40 grams and designed to be paired with lighter moveable weights to assist with players who are losing speed.

I know starting with the g400 the Alta was made directly by a factory to pings specs. Essentially cutting out the middle man (shaft oem).

prior to the g400 the TFC was made by Aldila. The TFC on the Anser woods was a UST.

the tour shaft is made by UST and Is a softer tipped version of an Element chrome shaft.

John Oldenberg was on a podcast I listened to back in July he was saying Ping really puts effort into their stock shafts based on a lot of data they have of swings.  He said they ar veryhigh quality.  The ZZ65 is an all-time favorite of mine.

Good catch, no.  Tripped over my keyboard on the way through that response between Tour Black and the Kai'li White, and typed Black twice in error.  It was the same Kai'li being used by Taylormade this year in the Stealth stock options.
