Callaway Paradym driver - 2022 QBE Shootout

Still in testing phase, but i should have more info soon.  With the weight in the front PTD is a beast, but a little hard to control (for me) comparted to Max LS, which was a point and shoot driver.  Working with the weights right now to see if I can find the happy place.   If not, I may find a reg Paradym to test.  After seeing some reviews, it seems like the Paradym is very comparable to Max LS in that its low spin and high moi

I’m not fast swing player, but I’m see great resulting from max Ls and TSR3, both are forgiving enough and I can drive the ball about 260 yard.

I have not seen paradym at my local shop yet, I would love to test it out against my sim 1 as well as max Ls and TSR3

My concern with PTD is the spin. In the reviews I’ve seen it seems like guys are lifting up and just barely getting enough spin.

I was going to possibly get a PTD in 10.5 but feel like I would need a Ventus TR Red 6x instead of the blue to aid with launch and spin.

I did see some that dipped into 1700-1900 range, which I didn’t love to see. Most good strikes though we’re in 2200 range.

How is the paradym comparing to the rogue max LS model? Surprise to see no LS model this year.

...well, according to the Callaway blurbs, the Max and Max LS is all rolled into the Paradym standard.

Played nine with the triple diamond today. My drivers speed is around 100, and prefer a fade bias. Perhaps I don’t have enough spin, but this one was not for me. Seemed to knuckleball, and definitely was not fade biased versus my Sim2. Love the way it sounded, perhaps I need to try the standard version.

What loft & where was the heavier weight, front or back? Yeah, Paradym 3D is definitely low spin, should loft up by the sounds of things from other golfers who tested the head

Great question, it is was a demo head and I grabbed it from the shop with not a ton of daylight left.  I typically play a Sim2 turned down 2 clicks with an Autoflex X flex. The cally was set at standard with the proj X silver 6.0.  Driver was a 9 degree.  I moved it to 8 and to 10 on a few balls to see the difference as well. Will check the weight set up Monday.

Does it seem like the paradym 3D launches lower and spins less (weight forward) compared to og stealth plus at the same loft? Of course there's the human element but it seems the 3D is low launch low spin which makes me really want one lol

No reason for anyone to play the TD model with 14g forward tbh. Not a single pro is doing it and for good reason.

Funny you say that.  I spent a good while today tinkering with the weights.  I have 14g, 2g and 8g weights to play with.  PTD came set up 14 front and 2 back.  Started the day with the 8 forward and 14 rear.  Head felt a little heavy and i was having trouble with strike location but, it wasn't horrible.  Then I moved to 2 front 14 back, which i would consider the most forgiving configuration.  Ball def launched higher and spun more, but It didn't have as much pop.  I could game it that way, if the swing was feeling shaky.  Lastly i went 14 front 2 back.   I felt it come alive for me.  5 just dead perfect mid launch low spin drives that were easily the longest of the day.  There is a possibility that my body had warmed up, but i just felt a real confidence with it in that setting.  Confidence breeds success as the saying goes.  PTD is a really fun driver to hit, bc the feeling off the face is super firm and powerful and I like that we can move the weights around to fine tune it.  But in true WRX fashion, i'll be testing Paradym bc it may just be a better fit for me.    I'd also like to play around with a few more weight configs If I can get my hands on some.

I played with a TSI3 and a Epic Max LS, and I've now played two rounds with my Paradym Triple Diamond driver. I think the Paradym has the best looking, sounding, and feeling driver head I can remember using. I've used the same shaft in both the Max LS and the Paradym TD (both have the same stamped loft). The Paradym TD head is a lower spinning head than the Max LS. With the Paradym TD the driver doesn't reach the same peak height, and has a lower more penetrating flight, spins less, and doesn't stay airborne as long. As a result if your going to try a TD head I recommend you either go up from your normal loft, or you test with a higher launch and spin shaft compared to what you'd usually use. If you go with testing a the standard Paradym head you should be good with using the same type of launch and spin shaft you would have used in a Max LS or TS*# clubhead.

Yeah, slight difference in feel as well.  Not as firm/solid and a slight hollow sound.  The sound is very subtle, only a golfwxr'r could hear it 😉

Before you were on staff with Callaway, what other drivers were you a fan of for feel and sound? Just trying to judge the bias.

Thank you, sounds similar to the TSr4 with a little less difference in sound. Might have to start looking around for Callaway weights.

Not sure if this got hidden in the comments somewhere. But last night on Johnny wunders Q&A on instagram someone asked if the stock no charge upgrade Ventus TR was a real velocore shaft and he mentioned yes it was. Can anyone confirm this? that would be pretty exciting news if so.

Not likely. Callaways website has the Ventus TR Blue 6 as a $250 upcharge and the TR Blue 5,7 for a $350 upcharge.

@HitBombsIt is 100% the real deal.  They are only offering the 6s with PTD at $250 upcharge.  The only "made for" ventus shafts are red (TM) and blue (cally) w/out velocore.

PTD w/Ventus TR 6s is $850 and is not stock
