Must have hot weather golf accessories?

What are the best hot weather golf things to have during a round? Going to South Carolina in a few weeks for three days of 36 holes walking and interested in what everyone has!

The best hot weather golf accessory is a dawn tee time. Close second is a double-wall vacuum insulated water bottle. 
 

 

When it’s hot but not crazy hot I will still walk, and I use the little umbrella attachment on my pushcart for shade. It looks mildly ridiculous but I don’t care.

I got a water bottle with a built-in Brita filter (Amazon has them). If I'm refilling it from on-course jugs I feel a little safer against germs. They fit easily in cart cupholders. Filter refills are readily available at most groceries.   If its really hot the night before I will put two water bottles in the freezer. They will stay icy for the entire round but melt enough so you can still drink. A side benefit is by still being icy I can put it on the back of my neck for cooling.

• A neck towel
• A quart thermos with ice water: You put the neck towel inside during trip to course. Then, you can replenish neck towel a couple of time during round.
• A bag of trail mix. You want to start snacking around the fifth hole. If you suddenly feel hungry during hot weather, you may feel mushy for a couple of holes, adding needless strokes.
• A thermos for water for front nine (towel and drinking)
• Sports drink for back nine. A friend of mine who runs marathons says you need electrolyte replenishment after two hours in heat, or your sweat will start flushing out your starting internal electrolytes.

I play in 102-106 temps with indexes into the 106-118 range multiple times a week.

 

Liquid I.V.  20 oz. before, 20oz. + during.  A source of protein and carbs during.  If you can chug a glass of milk as well before the round, that sets you up really well.

Hydrate the day before not before the round on the way to the course. 

 

Salty snack helps replenish salt and can help with you drinking more.

Solar sleeves. Don't have to worry about putting sunscreen on the arms, just face and neck. Also, the more you sweat, the cooler they become, even in the slightest of breezes. I ended up getting some after my tattoo artist saw how faded my arm had gotten and chewed me out lol. Can't imagine playing without them now. The SPArms are a good brand and they're $30 a pair. No slipping, so I never have to adjust them during a round.

Lightweight snacks or a cyclist's carb gel.  It's disgusting but lo blood sugar when you're on foot in really hot weather is no joke.

I always carry a small insulated backpack that carry's extra water, ice, food, LIV PUR supplements, iced face towel, and extra gloves in golf bag.  I live and play in SOCA, AZ, TX and HI where temps reach 115+.

I don't play in summertime unless it's after 5:30pm. I hydrate like crazy the night before and the day of the round and that makes a HUGE difference, especially because I like wine at night...

 

Summer essentials:

- 46oz or 64oz Yeti bottle with a mix of a little Gatorade powder and NUUN tabs 

- Cliff Bars

- Duluth Trading Buck Naked boxers

- Target All In Motion golf shorts

- Wet microfiber towel. Sometimes I like to drape that around my head or the back of my neck and really helps keep the core temp down

Light beer. It's not very good beer, but it's great bottled water (more electrolytes, too, as I understand).

You carry a backpack when you play golf?  Wha?

LMNT is pretty aggressive amounts of electrolytes. Good for staying salty.

It's a relatively small insulated backpack that hangs on my Push cart or sits in the wire basket when using a cart.  Also easily packed, used for the beach and hiking and carries wine and food.  After seeing mine, others now have their versions. 

 

Not only saves money, food, and drink is protected from critters and I always have plenty of water for hot days.

The older that I get, the more playing in the winter when it's 40°F appeals to me.  

 

When it's hot hot, I carry two 28 oz bottles of Gatorade that I poured into hydroflask bottles. Also have a 40 oz insulated bottle with ice and water.  Also have some electrolyte packs in my golf bag just in case.  I can usually last 16 holes in good shape.  Walking the last two holes is a gut check.  I might start to ride when it gets above 100°F.  I might play next week in Vegas but playing in 110+ temperatures is not that enjoyable.

If 36 a day, at a min change shoes and socks between rounds. I prefer to take a shower/change clothes.

 

Gold bond, sun sleeves, wide brim hat are great too.  Also liquid iv or propel or something similar to add to your water.

Me last week at southern pines with a 11:30 tee time in 96* heat lol. Water was frozen ice I had in freezer night before. Awesome to obviously drink but wet a towel in between holes.

I read OP as 36 per day.  I would bring an extra set of clothes if you don't have an option to stop back where you are staying to change/freshen up.  IMO undies, socks and shirt crucial.

1. Prehydration.

 

2. An umbrella. 

 

36 walking in the SE summer seems ambitious.  I'd consider riding the 2nd 18 .  Even then,  recovery between days will be tough.

Yes, work great when the sweat is poring off you.   Work best when wet, no need to go through multiples of expensive leather gloves.

Not an idiot @bunta! It does seem to be cyclical w.r.t. stock availability.

 

Perhaps @fairway_bandit can share insights w.r.t. alternative online sources to get these (that is, if he's willing to give up his exclusive knowledge re his dealer!

Reminds me of this recent "No gatekeeping" story that went viral, w.r.t. "geoguessr"... )
