Aberg's swing to me just looks like there's very little that could go wrong, it seems to simple and compact, yet he's long off the tee as well. He should be consistent if nothing else, even if he's not always setting the world on fire he'll be racking up top 10's.

Congrats to him, -29 is a heck of a score to win with, and 4 clear of everybody else to boot.

His total SG gained is 10th. Driving prodigy but very solid all around as well.

Getting a taste for winning…hope to see him keep it going.

Ludvig has all the potential to be great.  But, what I like and respect most is his thoughtful and humble personality.  I look forward to him competing with guys like Rahm, Scottie and Rory because he's got a top 5 game, with major potential.

He's obviously a very good player but I don't think there should be any rush to Tiger comparisons... he's 24 by that age Rory had already won two majors by 8 shots. He's clearly capable of being in a top 5 of the world situation but even among Scandinavians I mean we've just watched Hovland destroy it this year, what makes him better than Hovland then (who is actually only 2 years older than him). Then we've Jon Rahm.

Just by comparison for him to catch up with Jon Rahm at the same age, he would have to win 18 tournaments in the next 5 years including 2 majors to match Rahm, so that's the level to get to, never mind Tiger level which is another stratosphere.

You got a point, however he’s from Sweden. An age of 24 is very different from 24 in Spain when it comes to golf. Until he left Sweden he could only play golf during the summer.

Compared to other scandinavians he’s very young to win his first wins (DP & PGA) Annika Sorenstam (also from Sweden) was 24 when she joined the LPGA-tour. And she went on to win 72 LPGA tournaments and 10

majors.

Only time will let us know if he's the best of this young era. But i'm 90 percent sure he can surge into the top 10 next year and win more

Glad he's got a win on the PGA tour early. With that monkey off his back, we can see how well he tackles next year, in particular the majors.

I don't think this matters much. Wolff got his first win within 4 events and never did anything after that.

What I will say is that the RSM had a field rating of 217 which puts it pretty high up there in regards to regular season events but way behind the majors which are usually around 400. That 217 puts it up there with the Valspar and RBC Canadian Open.

There's definitely something more important that I should be doing.

Let's NOT overlook, Aberg still plays 718 T-MB 2 iron blade, same as mine.  LOL That young man has a helluva swing and a golf future.

Åberg is an amazing player. Always looks like he will shoot consistently low with very few bogeys..

Remember him pairing up with another exciting Scandinavian, Nicolai Højgaard recently. And while Nicolai would produce loads of birdies, a couple of bogeys and double bogeys would also creep in. Åberg just made 3 birdies, rest in par, and they would end up with the same score..

Both players have had an amazing year. Look out for them next season on the PGA tour.

Fun fact, at the Junior World Cup in 2018, Rasmus Højgaard won the individual tournamant, Nicolai Højgaard was second and Ludvig Åberg third. These 3 are the future of European golf.

the pga tour webapp has shotlink data from the 3rnds on seaside

Driving Accuracy:82.14% (46/56)

Thanks, I'm trying to put together a winning formula for a PGAT player's best chance at a win. So far you don't have to be the longest driver or the best putter, just Proficient at a few other categories...

Well,  we’ll see. Countless players have been storming out of the Gates just to have various kind of hiccups after a while, Wolff, Morikawa, Spieth, do anyone remember young Hal Sutton, Stenson, Magnus Persson, prospected to be the greatest Scandinavian, guess few people but his fellow countrymen remember him…

But well, he’s been playing steadily better and better, the weekend hiccups are getting shallower, and he don’t seem to be getting ahead of himself.  We’ll see.

One thing about the Tiger comparisons,  Tiger did strike me as pretty American in the interviews right from the start, a little like Reed. Ludvig as quite … the same as Annika albeit less shy. From a culture very different from maybe the American in terms of presenting oneself as a winner. You will not see any athletes from here banging the chest gorilla wise at victories. For good and for bad.

I don’t watch college golf. But I watch a good amount of the GC. They would have the “ticker” running on the bottom of the screen showing the college golf rankings. Ludvig was #1 every time I saw it for a long time. Obviously a special player.

Don't know what you're missin'......First team all Americans usually make it on the PGAT.

Here are a couple of names to remember:

L. Aberg... been out of college for six months

Fred Biondi

David Ford also has a brother who can play

Gordon Sargent

Preston Summerhays

Michael Thorbjornsen

Maxwell Moldovan second team but my dark horse

You're welcome.........🙂

He's a monster. He's played 14 professional events and made 13 cuts. 2 wins, 5 top 5s, 7 top 10s.

In those 14 events he's already rocketed up to 12th in Data Golf Strokes Gained rankings and 32nd in OWGR. I'm excited to see how he performs when the competition gets better and the courses get harder but the dude lacks a weakness...

SG: DD - +1.9

SG:DA - +0.2

SG:App - +1.2

SG:ATG - +0.6

SG:P - +1.0

My comparing LA’s potential to Rahm’s was an attempt to be more realistic than the Tiger comparisons.  He is like Rahm was in that he arrives with a pretty complete game.  Hovland was missing short game, Morikawa was a streaky putter and did not quite have elite distance,  Tom Kim had 160 ball speed.  Wolfe was missing mental game.  So among the youngsters, he is the most like Rahm as a rookie.  (Swing is totally different however).

Experience.

yeah but sometimes the flip side is being young and not knowing makes you more fearless in a good way.

I'm starting to think experience is overrated. Rory, Spieth, Morikawa, Scheffler didn't have a ton of experience before they started knocking off majors. I think experience can also mean scar tissue. It can also mean a fat bank account and lack of motivation or perhaps greater responsibilities and a lack of focus. There is something to be said for being young, hungry and fearless w/o the distractions and obligations of family and commercial partners.

That is not to say I expect Ludvig to contend in his first trip to Augusta or the Open Championship. Simply saying that the old view of players like Phil, Adam Scott, DJ, etc needing years of seasoning before breaking through as major champions has long been laid to rest.
