The only drama left for me is if JT stays at 6th or falls out of the top 10 with a few guys needing to finish in the -14 range. Could be impactful on if he stays in the top 30 of the OWGR and maintain access to signature events.

Watching Scottie right now is simply magic. Almost the definition of that rare state of being "in the zone". I'll have it every now and then - a magical round where everything works. The pros will have it now and then for a four day tourney (and then barely make the cut the next week). Watching some guy stay in the zone week after week? Priceless - and pretty damn rare.

Read the article on golfweek.com by Adam Schupak that trys to explain why the times weren't changed. It won't change your mind but it at least it explains the thinking behind it.

If you are going to declare that the "Players, officials, ground staff, volunteers, etc are all happy to start earlier" is true please post proof. Opinion most times is not realted to fact.

 

As to Michael Kim here is his full tweet. He didn't post a "fact" just opinion that's been parroted by others. BTW Kim was playing in the DR this week. How did he know for certain what was going on in Hilton Head on Sunday?

 

He didn't is the correct answer. Hundreds on PGA Tour events have finished on Monday, sometimes Tuesdays and on the odd occasion delayed until later in a season. BTW Kim said it was his understanding the broadcaster made the call. Pure conjecture on his part.

Gary Young, the PGA Tour’s Senior Vice President Rules & Competitions, did his best to explain during a post-round briefing with the media.

“The timing of it yesterday afternoon when we were making the decision, we had a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms. We did have a 70 to 80 percent chance of rain, but we were only looking at about four tenths of an inch that he was predicting, anywhere from four tenths to six tenths of an inch. The golf course was really very dry. We felt that could handle it easily. It actually held up very well through the rain that we got, but it was really the thunder and lightning that put us down,” Young said.

 

If that is the 'best' explanation then I'd hate to see the worst. What a pile of organic fertilizer. He claims the thunderstorms undid their plans yet the thunderstorms were predicted - as he states.

 

In the Southeast, Gulf moisture can trigger and feed storms in a chain-reaction manner. Along the Coast it's even more of a lottery since the ocean can provide even more moisture. And a large mass of cold air arrived Saturday into Sunday and reached into the SC/GA/FL region providing fuel for warm, moist Gulf air to dump its contents. In other words, once it starts it generally doesn't stop for 10-12 hrs. That's why the Thursday Masters forecast was so concerning and why they got extremely lucky when the storms skirted Augusta.

Who's idea was it to build grandstands and suites to block out the Lighthouse on 18? It's literally the Logo of the golf course and they decided money from suites and grandstands meant more? Gotta pay for the "signature" event I guess. I hate where Pro golf currently resides.
