Best equipment change for you this year

Finally moved on from 910 driver this year to the Epic SZ and that was a very good change, but the most beneficial change for me were the Rogue fairways

Replaced my 4,5 and eventually 6 iron with 816H1 hybrids. The results say that was the best equipment change I made this season. ;-)

Put a G25 3 hybrid instead of G 5 wood & G25 23 hybrid instead of 4 iron. So far much better

Oh and an XR16 3 wood which is awesome. Just need good driver now. Recently had D200, then Bio Cell drivers but think I’m going back to the G25 Driver - should never have sold it!

0811X to a G400 Max.. Really highlighted how unforgiving the PXG was on anything slightly out of the sweet spot and my confidence went way up.

TM M3 440 9*. (lowered one notch). So much lower spinning than my '17 M1 9.5. Really confident to bomb it off the tee.

Replaced my 910 D2 with the TS2 after a fitting with Titleist. Amazing increase in distance and performance.

My whole bag changed other than a 3 wood and a putter. I switched from one length Cobra F8 to Mizuno for irons. I switched from Cobra to Ping for driver. None of which was a necessity.

 

Honestly, I think I'm done for a while.

Getting easier to hit wedges, my short game improved tremendously. Tried everything, SM7, MD3, T7, RTX3, but S18 stood out and stayed in the bag.

p790 3 iron with a c taper- makes a nice driving iron for me. I play a links style course so having something to keep under the wind is a plus.

 

917 D2 with an x stiff rogue. This is the first time I have ever played an X stiff and was always hesitant to make the switch from S to X. Glad I went that way, finally having fun hitting driver again a few years of struggles.

 

I just picked up a 917 D2 with the X stiff Rogue Max, also never used an X flex. So far this club is very nice and i like the shaft....i haven’t seen a lot of positive reviews about the Rogue Max, i think it’s partially because the paint scheme looks cheap. If it was painted like the other Rogue shafts it would be a winner.

Honestly I need to retest the XR16 pro (need new shaft) but that thing has amazing ball speed and spin numbers. M3440 way out preforms the '17M1 460 though.

Switching to an Edel E1 putter has been a godsend. I’ve never made so many long putts and 2-4 footers are just about automatic.

I’ve been using the TW440 for about a month now. If you have followed me on the forums, you know Driver is my bogey club (often quite literally). The shape of the club is very old school. I said it earlier, it reminds me of an old Titleist driver. While it is loud, like metallic loud, when you stripe one it is a very satisfying sound.

 

The club is anti-left. You can baby draw it, but it mainly wants to go straight or right. If you are a hooker I recommend you give one a try. My miss is a low left hook (starting lessons next month, thanks Christmas). For me Driver is now a weapon. It’s on par in terms of control as my fairway woods. I hit it 20 yards farther than my 2017 TM M-1. So to go from an average driving distance of 255 to 276 quite literally changes the game for me.

Another thread here involved a senior that wanted more distance. At 73 I found instances last year where I was not getting my 8 out there 150 like I had the year before. So I explored the graphite shaft option. And as in another thread here I honed in on the Mizuno MP 64 that many loved. I saw a set in reasonable condition on eBay that the seller represented as having graphite Project X shafts. I bought them but the shafts are not graphite! I have kept them though because I love the look of the clubs and I swear the shafts are slightly lighter than the set I was playing, MP 59.

917f2 to a ts2 3 wood. I had trouble elevating the 917 off the deck for some reason(didnt really like the head shape) and now I can really challenge some par 5s that I couldnt reach
