Or the auctions of his esteemed art collection including works from Johanna Marie Fosie, Monet and Jon Shain that brought much needed support to various foundations. Very few people sell their prized art.

Haha I know some Assricans and they’re all born here

Low I often agree with you but not this time. My point was NOT to compare TW to GN immorality, but to remind people of Norman's dishonorable behavior. He's a well know narcissistic person and a d***head as Richard said it. Norman is also serial homewrecker, ruining not only two of his own marriages but stealing married women including his best friends wife. That's pretty low and should be known before anyone defends him.

he doesn't get that there isn't a moral equivalence between a man who undergoes surgery, in pain and gets his meds wrong...at least that was the picture he chose to show.. to back his "thoughts" up. He could have shown Elin with a putter at Tiger's head and that's a different story. People like Norman normally go with women they can dominate... Chris Evert i don't think was one such woman...he hasn't really recovered since

Tiger was philandering way before the drugs car incident. That incident though I think was the final “wake up call” and glad he turned it around. Amazing golfer and that’s what he is for me

In a world of Chip, Biffs, Parkers, Mavericks, Chase and various topographic features, to get one first name is great, two is remarkable.

A mate, amongst his many useless theories was that its your crossovers you need to watch out for more so than two firsts. Take care near Branden Grace, Jonathan Kaye.

If you think Tiger is obligated to be friends with Norman then it’s hard telling what you think other people owe you in real life. Very strange to be upset that a man you don’t know doesn’t wanna be friends with another man that you don’t know.

Hahaha, welcome to the wonderful wonky wacky world of WRX???

Actually, this is one of the better structured, civil and more articulate threads, and you’ve got some of the best members on the board involved in the thread and posting on this very page, lolol

You want irrelevant nonsense???

Go check out a few threads where I posted more than “Norman’s a d•ck,” lolol?

Stay well BSH and welcome to the board?

Cheers?

Hey Bro, I hope all’s well and you had a nice season?

As I’ve stated previously, my feelings regarding Norman are based on multiple personal encounters(same event, 2 different years) with him at my club when he was a guest in a charity event(which he was not invited back to after this second year, despite calling the benefactor myriad times trying to get back on the invite list??), and in separate incidents he was rude to an Asst. Pro, a bartender and a locker room attendant, all GREAT GUYS, and though I was not present for his rudeness to the assistant Pro on one tee prior to his going off or the one with the bartender, who he did not feel responded quickly enough to his drink order when our men’s card room was jammed post-round, and no, Gregory didn’t get to jump to the front of the line, any more than Mr. Palmer did, Ernie Els did, Jack, Vijay or Jimmy Furyk did, to name but a few, who didn’t so much as utter a peep and either waited at the bar or in their seat at a table until they were served.

However, I was witness to his berating our most senior(he has since retired) locker room attendant, who had known me since my Parents first joined the club in 1974 and before we were allowed into the men’s locker room(ya gotta be 16yo unless accompanied by an adult), when at the age of 14yo, my Bud and I used to sneak in the back door and he’s give us a plush locker room towel to dry off with in the kid’s shower instead of the ratty •ss thin white rags that they gave us, lol. He was(and still is) the best.

I was a kid, a nobody, and other attendants would’ve shooed us off, however he ALWAYS treated me with the utmost respect and not like a kid, and I can’t tell ya how many times when Pete would rip me a new one and I was sitting at my locker, so mad I could cry or put my fist through the locker and around the corner came Jimmy with a Coke, a smile and a pat on the shoulder. He was and is a Gem!!

So when Norman snapped at him and berated him for not having his shoes shined, when in fact the pair that Norman wore into the lockeroom that day were shined in front of his locker, however he had taken out a second pair from his travel bag following his round that he was going to wear that evening, dropped em in front of his locker AFTER Jimmy and the other guys had come around and collected their shoes, though had he asked, Jimmy most certainly would’ve shined em up. I’ve spoken of this encounter before so I’ll spare ya the intimate details, however while I’m not judging anyone on moral issues, because whoTF am I to judge another on something as sensitive at that, I will judge a man on how he treats others, ESPECIALLY those from a lower station than he, and especially when I’m a witness to his behavior.

Look, anyone who does ANYTHING in this world, regardless of how big or at what level, has to have a lil narcissism in em, lolol. FACT!!

The thing is, one has to know when to turn it on, when to turn it off, when to turn it up and when to turn it down, and with whom to do this with.

Norman has proven over and over that he does not.

End of this novella~

Norman’s still a d•ck

Stay well BD and keep fightin the good fight Brother?

Cheers?

Norman apparently is one of those guys that can't find contentment despite all of his success.

He's still looking at what he can't have (Tiger's affection) instead of what he does have.

Hopefully he finds peace and some type of transformation.

I trust Richard's account and Normal is sadly probably still a dick.

Haha, thanks Brother though it ain’t worth the effort of getting out of the chair, especially if a good game’s on, lol?

I was thinking back to some of the other guys/encounters that I witnessed that were the antithesis of Norman and his behavior and there are too many to name, though a few that come to mind involve Jim Furyk, who was up at the club for a breast cancer charity gig with his wife, Tabitha, and after an evening of dancing, champagne, more dancing and a lot more champagne, he joined a bunch of us in our usual “late nite long ball launch,” where ya drop a Benjamin on the table, grab a ball and your driver and give it a whack. The most sober amongst us would grab a cart, flashlight and head down the fairway and find the longest ball in the fairway and he gets the pot, which this night was just over a grand, $1100-1200, I forget exactly.

I’ve told this before but it’s so damn funny every time I think about it and visualize Jim standing there in tux pants, black pat’n leather shoes, peeling off his formal shirt cuz it was some hand made Egyptian cotton or some exotic •ss cotton that Tabitha bought for him in London and he didn’t wanna risk ripping or trashing it, lolol?

You think that Jimmy Furyk has a funky swing, you should see him swingin half naked??

The best was when he opened his wallet to drop his $100 on the table, he peeled out a second Benjamin along with a fifty, walked over to the bar and handed them to Joey, our head bartender and card room manager, and told him to split it with the other two bartenders.

Or Vijay, who after a 75-76 in the charity event that I spoke of earlier, was down on the range afterward working on something at the far end of the line and in about the middle of the range there was a lil guy, he was 14yo and the son of a good Bud, and he was having troubles with his swing and hooking the ball terribly.

As Vijay was walking back to the clubhouse, he walked behind Jason, stopped, watched him hit a few balls and then approached him and knelt down to talk with him.

Forty five minutes later they both walked up to the clubhouse together, Vijay having straightened out Jason’s swing and his ball flight.

Unfortunately, we usually only hear the negative stuff and everyone is so quick to throw stones, however there are many more of these types of stories than the negative ones.

Regarding the OP, I myself don’t believe that Tiger owes Norman, or anyone outside of his immediate family, Loved Ones or close friends a da•mn thing, much less giving acknowledgement to a guy who he obviously hasn’t had a very good relationship prior to the letter.

That’s great that the Gregster wanted to give Tiger his hard earned advice, however I am reminded of something that my Grandmother told me at 13-14 years of age~

“Advice unsolicited is usually advice unheeded”

Or in this case, unacknowledged, lol

One thing that I believe and Norman is finding out~

Karma is a beeeeeatch?

Stay well Bro?

A while back, I was looking for some footage of Seve's short game theatrics on Youtube and found his great, full length instructional video (which I'd never seen). Of course, I watched it all and it was every bit as delightful as one would expect and just gave me another reason to love and miss him.

After it ended, next up in the queue was a Norman video from ... probably late 80s I'd guess. Maybe early 90s. And my initial thought was ... ok, I'll watch this, sure. I was never a huge fan of the guy but I always loved his super aggressive swing and style. And I remember feeling really bad for the guy during his Masters breakdown.

Anyway.

The video starts out with him strolling out of his mansion, hopping in his Ferrari and driving over to his club where, presumably, the instructional portions were to follow. "Presumably" because I closed the window after seeing such a pathetic display of ostentatious fuckery.

Like, I don't hate the guy for having a Ferrari or a mansion. I didn't have a problem with Ian Poulter and his Ferrari collection because that came from social media and if you choose to check out someone's personal life; well, that's what you get. Rock on, Ian!

But to shove that into a golf instructional video for no reason other than to show it off like some tasteless bozo that won the lottery, I was like "Fuck you dude, you got some serious insecurity issues."

Sadly, Norman never wrote that letter for Tiger. He wrote the note as a self-congratulatory "Look at me hand delivering this, passing the torch to Tiger" thing, as people had done for him, and now that he didn't hear back he's more than happy to complain about it. The hilarious things are: 1. That he would ever expect a response from Tiger, of all people and 2. That he's passing any type of torch. Tiger is in his 40's and Norman isn't in his stratosphere as far as career accomplishments go. The ship on "passing the torch" from Norman sailed in about 1999.

Sounds like Norman really was a d!ck.

Tiger doesnt exactly have a stellar rep with locker room attendants and club/event staff on Tour either. Equally d!ckish and cheap to boot by most accounts

I generally disassociate character and talent. It's convenient and necessary to a degree. Einstein left his wife and kids for his cousin. Does his contribution to humanity diminish? Athletes and artists suffer the need to be validated to a greater degree than most so it's not surprising there's an under lying shadow of bad character there. Or it might be, their absorption to be great, retards some character traits. Norman's big crime is he's always been a Tool. He measures his success by his bank account. Tiger always cared about history more and there's little doubt it still does. If Tiger were more like Norman, he would have hung it up 5 years ago. If Norman had had Tiger's sensibility, he would have won 10 majors and that letter would have been answered. Either way, I'm still a fan of both.

In the words of Harrison McIntosh, a mid-century modern clay sculptor, “he who plows forward will always cut new ground.”

Norman is avid art collector and he spent a small fortune making the right decisions about pieces for his collection. His pursuit defines him as a collector. The same can be said about the way he played the game. He put himself out there and made some bad choices about personal conduct sure but you can't take away from his ability. He was a strong player - the best in the world at one time and was always moving forward.

How he handled his off-course life is one thing.

How he pursued winning was another.

Great summary of this whole episode and fair assessment of both men. Both very talented.

You would be surprised about who is into art and who is not. Don't get me wrong Greg has had his fair share of flops.

Both players were very popular. Their popularity has nothing to do with each player's unabashed arrogance and selfishness.
