After reading reviews and threads on here I pulled the trigger on a MannKrafted MA/66. Started getting the pictures this week. By the way, I blame ever single one of you. I’m so weak.

You should like it, have one myself.

Bought a used "value" condition WIlson 8802 Milled putter and will put a Best Grip Leather Rancher grip for a classic look. Won't have to worry about dings, hope it works but for some reason, I putt well with this type of blade putter. I have the Yonex ADX Mickelson putter and it's great but the bright chrome is blinding when the sun hits it directly.

Well, as anyone knows that’s read any of my equipment posts, my favorite and most bagged putter has been “The Wilson 8802,” the absolute original 8802, and though I have every 8802 rendition since the first 8802, and a few went into the bag for anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, from 04/12/1976(my 16th BDay), when I bought myself one with my BDay money, that particular putter has been in my bag for approximately 33-34 of the next 36+ years.

That is the putter with Mr. Palmer’s signature on it, as Madison got Mr. Palmer’s signature four days before his passing, as we were both in the same hospital in Pittsburgh(Shadyside Hospital) and in the radiology department for tests and she sat with Mr. Palmer while I had my tests and that signed putter, which I had in my hospital room, amongst about 6-8 others, lmao, was laying on my bed upon my return to my room.

This is the only autograph of any kind that I have and Maddie and my mother had it put into a beautiful deep mahogany case that hung in my library wall until it fell off the wall and sorta cracked and the glass broke, lolol. I’ve gotta get it repaired ;)

While I love this putter and the story behind it(between Mr. Palmer & Maddie), I obviously “retired” it. Though I have 137 putters, many later renditions of “The Wilson 8802,” I have only ever had one of this particular putter.

This is until Mitch sent me an 8802(the “clean” one in the pic), which I was elated by!!

Thanks so much Brother?

Though I am presently unable to swing full go, I do pass the time putting and the 8802 is still my favorite, and while the stroke and partial blindness(left eye) hasn’t helped my game, I still can hang with some elite putters(that I used to beat roughly half the time, lol) and though I don’t run em like I used to, I don’t embarrass myself and this 8802 still gives me the most confidence!

Then last night Madison came home with a “surprise,”

Yeppers, that blackened “The Wilson 8802” with Head Speed shaft :)

It’s beautiful and with my present eye sight, I do prefer a black/dark putter in the sunlight, as along with the glare reduction, which never phased me before, it’s easier to square the blade with my good eye.

My mental game ain’t what it used to be, lolol.

Thanks Sweetie? & Mitch?

You guys are the Best?

Richard

Not a bad place to test out the new X.

If that's the Sandpiper then it looks a hell of a lot different to when I tried to play it a couple of weeks ago when the greens flooded and the wind hit 40 mph....

Henrik - Titleist 917 F3 15 deg, Rogue Max 75x, B2 Setting

The Walking Stick - Titleist 818 H2 19 deg, Rogue Max 85x, B2 Setting

Yep. Played there on sat and it was beautiful. Some parts of the fairway was a little torn but the greens were in great shape. I don’t know if it’s worth $200 even with the ocean views but fun track.

When we played it the greens were waterlogged, and still running around 12 on the Stimp.....It's a great course, with great views and a few brilliant holes, but not great on value for money. When in the area we often play the Glen Annie on the other side of the 101, much cheaper and still a great track - views aren't as good but I find the course layout even better - requires more thought than the Sandpiper.

Interestingly before they built the Bacara the Sandpiper used to be $80-100 per round, the same as the Glen Annie. Probably why all the locals go to the Glen Annie :)
