I'm still in the corner with my tinfoil hats thinking that because of the ability to go around the course and put shots on tape (even 20 seconds later) giving the announcers just enough time to tell us how hard the shot is and somehow he "pulls it off". I absolutely think they use the delay to their advantage.

The fake drama they create is utterly annoying. Rather than appreciating how great of a shot it was. They build fake drama knowing full well that they will pan to Charles Howell for his 1 televised shot every tournament because he made an absolute bomb or nearly holes out... and they act surprised... do they think we are stupid?

Most definitely spitting!

Especially the world no.1! Every tee, every green & parts in between. Great gob fulls of saliva/mucous/bacteria hawked up from parts unknown.

They got into Sergio for spitting in the hole/cup. Not good but at least you knew where the expectorant was.

With DJ & his like minded brethren you could be sitting in it, treading in it, your ball rolling through it everywhere on the course.

Maybe they should bring out some spitoons.

I was always taught that it was bad manners to spit in public and that saliva swallowed was essential for good digestive health.

Thats my bitching done for today.

Cheers

and when gary mccord plays that little game with himself trying to guess whether or not a player will make the putt.

I'm starting to get annoyed by how miserable so many of the professional golfers look while they are out there during a round. Here I am in NJ, sitting through another crappy winter. No golf for months. Sitting in an office in NYC all day every day during the week. And here are these guys playing golf literally almost every day, in mostly beautiful weather, on the best courses, getting paid to do it, many making a ton of money. And almost all of the big guys just look miserable doing it. A smile now and then during a round wouldn't kill these guys. Doesn't make sense to me.

Not really sure that being announced as plain Nick Faldo is a breach of the terms of his KBE or knighthood. Our last Club Captain was/is a ‘knight of the British Empire ‘ or a Sir. He never ever introduced himself as such or was never introduced publicly as such. He did sign letters as Sir .... ..... but that normally came as a surprise as he is a low key sort of bloke. It might help getting the odd restaurant reservation but isn’t really a big deal over here.

That's like some doctors. I play golf with three doctors and we always use their first name, not "Dr. so and so". And when they send an email to their golf buddies, it's always just their name.

But there is at least one member of our club who signs his emails "Dr so and so". That always strikes me as pretentious.

Players wearing black shoes, black pants, black shirt, and black hat all together.

Zac Johnsons caddies birdie dance. He even does it for other players which is just mind boggling.

The flight tracker looking like the ball is landing in trouble and it's actually in the fairway.

HV3. If you've ever met him in person away from a tournament you'd know why.

Elaborate? Seems like a good guy.

Doctors drive me nuts. I played in a foursome once with 3 other guys I hadn't met.

First one says "I'm Dr ______."

Second says "I'm Dr ______."

Third says "I'm Steve."

Halfway through the round I say "So Steve.. what kind of work do you do?"

He says "I'm am oncologist. How about you?"

Two doctors who insist on being called "doctor" and one very esteemed doctor who insists on being called "Steve".

It’s funny, all the medical professionals I play with that could call themselves doctor don’t. Yet the couple of guys that got PhDs in random subjects insist they’re called doctor.....not sure why they insist when their doctorates are in art history and such but I refuse to call them doctor!

HMMMM, "lets take a look at his swing on the Minolta bizhub super office printer swing camera", McCord and Feherity trying to top one another with their non-existent humor, and my favorite this week, Faldo talking about Kentucky fried gator when a pic of a gator showed up. These guys are getting harder to listen to than Dick Vitale at a NCAA game!

"Sand iron"

Oh god. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little. Thats worse than fairway metal in my opinion.

Roger Maltbie is by far the guiliest of this phrase.

And he still doesn't know what a hybrid is. "he's got some sort of rescue club Johnny."

Not really sure that being announced as plain Nick Faldo is a breach of the terms of his KBE or knighthood. Our last Club Captain was/is a ‘knight of the British Empire ‘ or a Sir. I didn't suggest that it is any sort of "big deal" in the UK. I think that's part of the story, in fact. That Americans deride Jim Nantz (and perhaps by extension Faldo) for what is Nantz's application of ordinary, standard protocol regarding Faldo's entitlement. Because Americans don't understand and can't be bothered to learn any new or foreign things.

I am pushing on this specifically because I have seen so many anti-Nantz and so many pro-Amanda comments in this thread, and my view is the total opposite as to both of them.

Trust me, Americans "understand and have bothered to learn" that Nantz is a sycophant for many other reasons other than always calling Nick Faldo sir. Its on display every week. I suppose that us provincial Americans need to be thankful for Jim or we may have to listen to more of that young woman Balionis! *gasp*

There are 52 weeks in a yr. I bet Jim Nantz is on TV at least 45 of them.

I'll play devil's advocate here (since I'm from Jersey too, I can do this.), And say we don't see them smile and appear to enjoy what they do as much as we think they should because it's their job.

Rory was asked if he still plays 18 holes for fun. His answer was "Not anymore."

With that said..I share your misery with winter and basically having to take 4 months off (we got lucky this fall, could play through Thanksgiving).
