I totally agree with Phil and foursomes, not going to happen. I thought I saw where DJ and Koepka felt they didn't play well together at Hazeltine and may be better in different groups although they're buddies. I'd like to see:

Fourballs: Reed/Spieth, Tiger/JT, DJ/Finau, Mick/BAD

Fousomes: Reed/Spieth, Fowler/Koepka, DJ/Finau, BAD/Webb

I don't see Tiger and Phil playing both morning and afternoon on Friday.

BAG UNDER CONSTRUCTION/TINKERING...Now and Forever.

These were the USA's groups this morning, so I think pairings are shaping up:

Reed, Spieth, JT, Tiger

DC, Phil, Webb, Bubba

Finau, Fowler, DJ, Koepka

So I'm thinking these are the Friday pairings:

Fourballs: Reed/Spieth, Tiger/Bryson, Webb/Bubba, Koepka/DJ

Foursomes: Reed/Spieth, JT/Tiger, Finau/Fowler, Phil/Bryson (I can't believe I'm throwing that pair out, but have to play Phil somewhere)

Phil is not...I repeat IS NOT playing Foursomes. Furyk may be his BFF but anyone with half a brain knows better than to let that guy play alternate shot.

I'm tempted to start a new thread: "Which would you rather have as your foursomes partner, Phil or a 4-Handicap?"

I agree, but consider my other thread - Do you want Phil hitting 14 tee balls (excluding Par 3's) or 6 - 2 of which he can hit iron off the tee?

It is looking like

Reed/Tiger (Reed using a Bridgestone ball today) - Makes sense. Playing with his hero and he plays better when he's with him, at least that's what I've seen.

Spieth/JT - Length and accuracy will hopefully balance out a guy who's struggling on the greens

Phil/Bryson - Good way to get the rook acclimated to the RC.

Rickie/DJ - Not sure how I think about this one...

Finau/Koepka (bombs away) - Agreed. It's going to be an airshow.

Webb/Bubba - Good buddies and just a safe pairing.

At least these are my opinions... :)

These are pretty spot on IMO

Fowler was paired with Jimmy Walker each round in 2014 and they went 0-1-3, then Rory beat him in singles. He did not have a great showing. I like pairing him with DJ this time around. Rickie's putting has been considered above average, but DJ was 10 spots above him in SG Putting this season (30 and 40)

There's a lot of different ways to play this game. He's found a way to work around his notable weaknesses. Problem is when you put another poor individual in his boots, that guy unfortunately won't have developed the godly recovery and short game skills to play Phil's game (unless that person happens to be Tiger, but still a terrible idea).

Who was the young Belgian who played so well at Hazeltine? I really enjoyed watching him. I take it he didn't make the team this year?

Of course, being an American, I route for the USA in this, but there is absolutely nobody on either team I don't enjoy watching a lot, other than Hatton, Noren, and Oleson, who I don't know much about. But every Ryder Cup there is some Euro I don't know anything about who plays great (the above mentioned Belgian being a case in point).

I'm nursing a torn achilles tendon, so I'll probably watch every second of coverage.

I'm mostly hoping neither team runs away with it on Days 1 and 2...

Looking forward to it!

Andrew Colsaerts - dude made every putt on Saturday.

At Hazeltine was Thomas Pieters, while at Medina was Nicolas Colsaerts ;)

yeah!,, Thomas Pieters...never cracked a smile as I recall, just kept hitting great shots and making putts. Just what Ryder Cup is all about.

FORE RIGHT!!!!

pairing on paper dont mean squat...it comes down to who can handle the pressure and make the shots and putts when the match is on the line....by all rights TW should be undefeated in Ryder Cup competitions, but he isnt

My prediction is that someone else than the usual stars will emerge as a hero

I believe the US and European leadership conspired to give equally dull and uninspiring captains for this year. Furyk, given his RC record, shouldn't even be allowed to watch the Ryder Cup on TV. Should have dug up a Frenchman to lead the Euro squad. Napoleon comes to mind.

The one thing that can be written in stone is that Team Europe is going to dominate the US squad in the style department. That's good for at least a couple of points.

The level of disrespect shown here towards King Phil is staggering. I am shocked and appalled, and mildly livid.

His RC team value is more like a captain than a player. But who knows, his game can flip overnight.

If you think the way he is behind the scenes is positive overall. If the guys on the team think so, that's what matters.

The only thing I've been saying over the past couple days is that the US needs to continue to learn from it's mistakes. One of those being Tiger Woods teeing off at the end on Sunday. My opinion is that Tiger needs to be one of the first couple off. If the guys who go off behind him see that he's doing well, it can be inspiring to the whole team. I haven't exactly gone back an analyzed it but if I remember correctly the last 3 or 4 times he's played, his match hasn't meant squat because the US was already behind and/or has lost already. That needs to change. I say the same with Phil, the need to go out in the beginning, not the end.

And when you think about how the PGA of America snubbed Larry Nelson, the more dull it becomes.

Great interview with Zinger by Shane Bacon on this subject:

- don't put Tiger out early as IF he loses it would give the Euros too much motivation

- don't waste him at 11 or 12 as they hardly ever influence the result

- he would put him at 8,9 or 10 as these are the spots which usually decide the cup
