My guess is that they will be paired together on Friday, but given Spieth’s recent form, Furyk is looking for an alternate pairing for Reed in case Spieth continues his poor play

My early take ... > too many contrived holes with artificial lakes > no driveable par 4? I hope they tweak one hole to make this happen ... late in the back 9 preferably > only 3 par 5's blows IMO. Last par 5 is the 14th ... argghh > a strange mix of design styles with rolling "fescue" to the sides and big man made lakes. It's like Scotland had a baby with SE Florida I think it is great they took it to France and should look at other Euro countries going forward as well

 

did you look at the distances?? there are two holes that could easily be set up to be driveable. The 380 yard number 6 and number 10 at 375. you can easily set those up as driveable, heck, the may be driveable already. i dont know the conditions.

 

 

EDIT:: looking at number 13. it may be driveable as well. plays at 415 but looking at the picture it looks like you can play to the right and cut a lot of distance off. totally could be wrong though.

Just got back today - was fun and actually enjoyed watching some of the celebrities (Condoleeza Rice and James Blake nearly hit 3-4 people out of the sand) but overall very disappointed in the organization of the event. Gates opened 20-25 minutes late due to security not being set up and then only had one security line for bag check. Layout not really conducive to fans getting close with many gates and roped off areas. Fans lining 5 deep for autographs at 18 caused a log jam lasting about an hour because there was only one way in and out across the 18th hole in that area - marshals and security had no clue how to control the crowd. Relatively small crowd compared to Augusta on Monday, or any of the practice rounds I've been to at the US Open or PGA - relatively quiet.

This event is so far up its arse that I can scarcely even believe it. I bet back in the day, say in 1981, Nicklaus and Trevino et all arrived in Europe on a Tuesday or Wednesday, had a couple of practice rounds and then got down to business. No concert, no WAGs, no junior Ryder Cup, none of this extraneous bilge. I'd love to know whose grand idea all of this is, my guess is Europe's. This thing is much more important to them.

 

The stands around the first tee alone are a monstrosity. Can't wait to see them only half filled - because the French don't really like golf.

Has anyone pointed out that the first hole of Le Golf Nacional kind of sucks for a Ryder Cup? The past few Ryder Cups have been awesome on the first tee with the players hyping up the crowd and just ripping drivers down the fairway - it won't be the same with guys hitting 3 iron off the tee.
