The SLDR was a "loft up" driver because the super low MOI meant you could kill tons of spin with high strikes and get away with much higher launches. The SIM is setup with weight concentrated low and back which is exactly the opposite of the SLDR. These two drivers share virtually nothing in common from a spec standpoint.

Everything about SIM suggests higher launch than most drivers TM has produced. But strike will always alter that static design.

A bunch of guys saying "loft up" because they hit SIM low on the face and their current driver center or high aren't the basis for a "this driver is a loft up driver" comment.

Head to head, same loft, same strike, SIM will launch higher.

I hit SIM vs my M5 for hours. Never had a SLDR, but apples to apples, the SIM was lower than the M5 for ME. I'm not some slouch golfer who hit it everytime low on the face. They were center strikes.

Folks getting into the Sim max, are you needing to loft up? I get tons of height out of my 9* M6 turned down to 8.25 with a Tensei PO 70TX

If the option is there than that is what it will mean, because you can't make a driver shaft any softer than "untipped".

Yeah that is it with regards to the tipping. Oddly enough the 60G smoke green comes tipped 1", the 70g version comes untipped

I sent them a pm on here and they said exactly that. They won’t take a specific request but will adjust back to “standard”. I kind of hope this is new and not something they’ve been doing for a while... when i ordered an M3 it came at 45” and C9. I ordered a SIM at 45” so I hope I don’t need to add a pound of lead tape to it

Went ahead and ordered mine today to put up against my g410. I’m very skeptical anything can beat the 410 but we will give it a go. Wanted to try the riptide cb as well so was a nice no charge option

Took a good look at the new offerings today at my fitter. Address position looks great and attractive color scheme. Sole of the club stuff looks and feels weird to me. I'm sure it'll be very popular this year.

My SIM is at 44.5" and it is D1.5 with an original (real) Blue Ventus 6-S. My heads come from the Tour dept so those may be slightly heavier as most of those clubs are built between 44.5" and 45".

I fully expect mine to come in lighter than my desired D3. Hot melt to start and lead tape to follow if necessary.

Having played a 9.0 M5 for the last season, it's going to be a toss up for me as to which loft I go for in SIM. My M5 launches in the 12-14 range and spins 2500-2700 right now (it's not a great fit) and it's set a 8.25° right now.

 

Part of me thinks a 9.0 SIM would be okay, especially set to standard but I had two fantastic driving seasons with a 12° SLDR and 10.5° M1 back in the day. A 10.5 could always be turned down a little bit but the last thing any driver I use needs is a closed face for more loft.

I play m5 10.5 turned down to 9.75. I was seeing about 1-2 degree lower launch with SIM 9.0 and similar spin to m5. My strike patter with SIM was a touch lower than M5.

What I've seen, and the design would indicate, is that SIM will launch a touch higher than m5 and spin a touch higher (in the same loft). The more you have m5 weights back, the closer it'll resemble SIM.

Whistle may be the wrong word but there is a sound present on the SIM that is not there on the SIM max. A sound from the slot where the weight is. It is not a bad thing, but I do notice it.

Sorry if this has been touched on but does anyone know if my shafts/adapters for M6 will work in Sim/Sim Max? Also has anyone with less than beastly numbers demo’d these yet? My old carcass might get to 93 mph after a handful of Naproxen and a good warmup. I hit M6 as good as I’ve got a driver in years and thought I’d have no chance with the std Sim but yesterday indoor numbers were much better than Sim Max. Wasn’t expecting that
