With global supply chains in a crunch as you referenced it was decision making time.  It is currently September in the states, rounds played over the next 2 months will be significantly less than the 2 months we just experienced.  In Australia Spring begins in September, which means rounds will be increasing in the upcoming months.  If I were to have the ability to produce enough equipment for market A with an expected slow down, or market B with an expected increase, it would be a no-brainer.

The USA will get stock much later than we want it, but still before spring of 2021.  I am considering an order from Down Under, but I surely am not blaming Ping for having to make a smart business decision in the time of Covid.

Just my 2 cents

This is my thoughts too. We are FLYING down here on the other side of the world. My team and I are actually wondering how we are going to deal with it getting busier. We are already into Spring and longer days and more golfers are a given. We are a semi private members club with 1050 members and there is a real struggle to get tee times. Biggest ever June,July and August in greenfees and new members (or people coming back to the game) each day.

We have our first fitting for the new irons coming in today so excited to see the results!

I wonder how they raised the moi on the max while keeping the moving weight track.

also curious what the crossover looks like, more g400 or 410?

And dropped the spin !

Have Ping made any claim of lower spin?

Here's what Ping say :

G410 LST spins 200-400rpm less than plus. G425 LST spins 200rpm less than G410 LST and 500-700rpm less than G425 Max.  Sounds to me like the G425 Max spins 100RPM more than G410 plus.

More 410 but more beefy than that model. Not bad at all.

pings heads are legendary but my main complaint is somehow the shafts seem whippy in the woods, even compared to same model in other oems. Aftermarket shaft in ping head is basically unbeatable

Is it just me, or does it seem like the notch in the G425 irons and the Crossovers look huge compared to other series?

I do wish they'd pull that black finish over to the Glide 3.0s...

Yeah it seems like if a tiger hit his little signature stinger with that, that head might be flipping backwards LOL

WOW! Wow wow wow and yes! G425 Max 10.5*!!!! Pre-Order! Highest MOI ever! Lower spin, higher ball speeds across the face. Better acoustics. Gorgeous shape, color, design. Love it, love it, love it. I am sold. I am so impressed with this release. Fairways are also beautiful. I don't really do hybrids or the crossover, and I'm not in the market for this type of iron (still loving my i200s, but curious about this i59? that is the "iron to end all irons"?).

Is it just me, or is the sole of the driver slightly concave, which I don't believe I've seen before? I suppose that helps aerodynamics, if that's true? Or CG or MOI or CG distance from Neutral Axis? Can't wait to hear the reports from the wild.

The acoustics between the G400 max and G425 max/lst are immense!  The guy using a GD DI-7 was hitting both...... TAKE MY MONEY!

I would wait for more live testing as that video was using a sampled/replaced sound for the G425 driver audio.

The moveable weight is 10g heavier than the 410 weight, which would account for the MOI increase including any other weight shifting they may have done in the design.

I wonder what happens to the MOI on the Max when you move the weight? I mean, I know what happens... but how much?

I suspect it would stay roughly the same or maybe increase a *tiny* amount when moved to the "fade" position and drop a small amount when moved to the "draw" position.

See my post above. Where are people getting the info it's lower spin? From what I've seen, Ping states if anything it's higher spin.

G425 LST is 200 RPM less than G410 LST per PING Australia marketing material.  They also increase the MOI

As for spin reduction in the Max I do not recall seeing that in print.  There is a video of a Pro (ranked 700-800 in the world) using the G400 Max and G425 Max and his spin went down over 600 RPM while using an AD DI in both clubs (Pic below).  There is also a fitter that made a post indicating that spin was down in his testing and on average the gain was 7 yards.  So both of these statements are anecdotal.  However, PING does state the MOI is over 10k total in the G425 Max in the Japanese marking material.  They also added sound ribs to the G425 lineup so that there should be no more ear drums breaking.

The three drivers averaged a 14% increase in MOI per PING.  So if a higher MOI, better sound, and some element of spin reduction are important than maybe it is worth a test drive.  I will take it for a spin, and hope that it sicks.

The material saying the G425 Max spins 600 RPM more than the LST could be concerning for higher speed players, but with the right shaft you may have a fairway finder and not necessarily a pure bomber.

How do you think they are going to supply the world if the are behind here? If they are behind in one place they are going to be behind in all of them..

MIzuno figured it out. You start telling people stuff is not available as you ramp up to the new line. Ping is just not adjusting very well.

A lot of outsource manufacturing of components is done on a reservation basis with contract clauses around cancellations, etc.    Some companies probably cancelled, reduced, or deferred orders earlier in the year given the dire predictions for the industry.   The factory itself may have reduced its capacity due to covid.  Those are things behind the scenes we don't and will likely never know.    But given what we know about the new dates, it's reasonable to assume that Ping has secured (at least minimal) capacity for its launch.

Ping isn't the only company having supply constraints.   Srixon has a backlog, as do others.   Nor is golf the only industry feeling it.   Bike and fitness gear are still hard to come by.

Accepting that there's a finite amount of product available for the rest of the year, it makes sense to roll it out where peak season approaches and where they can meet initial demand.   Having a launch with a coordinated investment in marketing for mailings, etc only to have the fitting carts and store display racks empty does Ping or its retailers no good.   IMO, this damages a relationship with retailers and customers much more than delaying a release.

As for Mizuno, there are a lot of reasons their situation can be different.   Once past the fact that both sell golf equipment and have a loyal core following, they're very different companies.
