Ping G425 closer than we think? (In hand Pics Pg. 16)

The 9* Max with a low spin shaft should be low spin enough for most players. Obviously there are some that are high spin and high speed but if you can take a max down to 7.5* and use a low spin shaft it should be able to reach a good window on launch monitor numbers

Looks like the Max could be a real winner for people like me who struggle to spin driver. It seems to spin a bit and then throw in the record MOI for accuracy and forgiveness...

I play the G410 Plus at 9* and I've struggled to get the spin down while keeping the launch up with my preferred ball. If they knocked off about 400 rpm's from what the Plus did, I'd be in heaven with the MAX. 10* would be the optimal loft for me.

The shaft i have now has worked out really well though.

I wish Alex noted if PING kept the same adjustable collar that the g410 has.

same adapter as G410

Also, ping says G425 Max spins about 600 RPM higher than G425 LST. They also said G425 LST spins 200 less than G410 LST. Thus G425 Max spins 400 more than G410 LST.  (Averages of course)

I believe the spin gap between the G410 LST and Plus was greater than above mentioned 400 RPM. Thus I would expect a decrease of a couple hundred RPM.

So similar carry and ballspeed with Max despite it being 10.5 vs 9 LST. Compare like for like and that 450 RPM spin margin would narrow and the Max would be looking even better

Good catch.  I didn't look at that while watching.  That loft difference could explain most of the spin variance, as well as carry vs roll.

That said, I believe the below spy shots of what I'm told is a forthcoming Ping Driver, are genuinely a world exclusive. It looks sweet!!!

I just really wish ping would go back to having a 7.5* degree somewhere in the lineup.. I’m a high spin player and with relatively shallow faced drivers the only way I can keep spin off is crank it open and flat, and then I’m committed to hitting significant cuts.. I’ve got a 410LST 9* cranked all the way low/open and still struggle to keep it from ballooning in the wind.. I played a G10 7.5* for years and loved it.. Would love to have something in that range with updated tech

Secondary market would be really difficult to obtain the desired outcome. If you order new from WRX department you could request lowest loft available, and maybe get something in the 8’s prior to adapter adjustment.

I’m definitely going to try the lst driver. It has to be significant improvement over my 410 to switch. That also goes for the hybrid, love my 410 hybrids. Really going to test the 3w and see how they do. Have not really liked the last few, have a regular and lst 3w head just hanging out in my closet ?‍♂️

My golf buddies and I do a winter ski trip every year, you’d fit right in. We take the jackmonkeys and give them a boot out of the Snowbird tram halfway through the ride. There is just no proper golf equivalents to this.

It would be helpful to figure out why exactly you're such a high spin player (what constitutes "high spin" to you?) as all the causes of excessive spin are fixable.

This was one of the best drivers ever made, very classic.  I played the 9* with a YS6x for years.

So what would be the spin difference between a G425 Max 10.5* and a 9*? Would the 9* Max have close to the same amount of spin as the 10.5* LST? Or even less?

I do not know of any hard data on this, I am sure that many folks have done testing and know what the answer is for them in a particular club.  I would imagine that where you hit the ball on the face is much more important than 1* of loft.  There surely will be those that can hit a 10.5 Max with less spin than a 9 LST.  If you are a high spin player by nature you may always struggle to get the Max's spin down into the 2200-2500 window, but that is okay.
