Ping G425 closer than we think? (In hand Pics Pg. 16)

I got to see the 425 lineup in person today by accident. I showed up to the range I typically practice at and the Ping rep was there with the drivers and a 3 wood. The fairway wood looks very nice from the top, much more traditional look although it sat closed to my eye.

 

The LST and MAX looks great. Max is a little rounder/taller and the LST is a slightly smaller package. I told the rep that I played the 410+ all last year but that the SIM beat it out this season. All she said was, "You'll be back next year." Haha. While I find that unlikely (love my SIM setup currently and I don't need to be buying a new driver as frequently as I have been), I loved her confidence/enthusiasm.

More traditional because of the lack of turbulators, or does the overall shape differ?  I am hoping the max fw has a deeper face than the recent ping fws, which look like they've been stepped on, to my eye.

 

The 425 3w is 5cc bigger than the 410, which has me doing some wishful thinking.

Head to head with the G400 Max in the video it certainly sounds a lot more muted which is more pleasurable to my ear.

Tough for me to say with any certainty, but I'm hoping that what I'm seeing in the pics is a hint of a more rounded or v shape sole.

 

When I've demoed Ping FWs in the past they've been great as long as the the strike is square to the turf on a clean lie, but others have it beat from iffy lies.   A little bit of warbird/vsteel would go a long way.

Dingbat question here. Which iteration of Ping driver did they do away with the standard version?  
I’m certain there was a Ping g 400 (along with max, lst, and sft)

 

Was there a standard “g410”, or was there only the 410 plus, lst and sft models?

Youre right, the G400 had a regular model then I believe it was months later, they released the Max. G410 on had Plus, LST and SFT. Plus was the "regular" model, I guess you could say.

G410 LST spins 200-400rpm less than plus. G425 LST spins 200rpm less than G410 LST and 500-700rpm less than G425 Max.  Sounds to me like the G425 Max spins 100RPM more than G410 plus. 

 

Comparing MAX vs G400 MAX only......higher MOI by a smidge

Seems most likely it would be the same shafts as Australia (Japan has different options).  Alta, Tour, CK Orange

Yep. And looking at the videos of the irons they look almost exactly the same as the G410's (with different badging). Very similar offset, very similar sole shape, etc...  Which isn't a bad thing, the G series irons are great performers.  The last box that I need to see checked is that they haven't further reduced spin. Once I see that I'm pretty much ordering.

You are correct. I reached out to GolfBox yesterday and due to COVID they are only shipping to Australia and New Zealand
