That is a stout bag (for anyone).  I’d bet she takes a lot of money off of unsuspecting players

2015 great big bertha driver, 3, 5, and Divine 9.  3 and 5 are at16 and 20* loft.  Factory regular shafts.

irons are Mizuno MP H4 5-PW.

Wedges are a mizuno jpx 50* GW and 55* sw, and a ping eye 2 LW

Putter is a Ben Hogan/Bettinardi Baby Bee she stole from me.

she loves Pro v1 golf balls.

she hits her driver about 210-220, and is outstanding with her fairway woods.

Nothing to contribute to the thread but I just had to chuckle when I saw the topic. It connects two concepts that simply don't compute for me and it makes me laugh.

"My wife"

"Golf clubs"

If I ever saw my wife with a golf club it would be because she needed to go kill a snake in the garden.

Decades ago when I first took up the game she tagged along (once) for nine holes and declared it might be a fun game if you could play a round in maybe 20-30 minutes. Otherwise, seemed like a waste of time.

My wife loves to hang with me on the course. She’s a decent golfer, super straight but nothing crazy. But she has a chronic injury so swing speed isn’t her strong suit.

We’ve found that cobra woods are incredibly tailored to golfers of slower swing speeds. Unlike many OEMs they do not simply throw a L flex shaft in a standard club design. Most of their S and L flex clubs have higher lofts to accommodate the player and can even be adjusted on their higher end clubs. For example, the standard Cobra 3 wood is 15° but in L flex it is the same size and volume head in 18°. This allowed us to maximize forgiveness at the appropriate lofts not to mention allowing the clubs to be played at the appropriate length. She also loves the Cobra’s “baffler rails” on the soles. Even their F max drivers are offered in 15°. However, we stuck with mostly F9 and F8 stuff to allow us to manipulate lofts and face angle.

Anyways, rant over. This is her bag all shafts are stock L flex:

Driver - Cobra F8 12°
3 wood - Cobra F9 18°
5 wood - Cobra F8 21°
7 wood - Cobra F8 24°
6i-SW - Callaway Women’s Rogue

Putter - Ping Sigma Tyne

We went to 2nd swing and tested all the clubs individually before we bought them. They were very patient with her. I’ll admit that I would have liked to see her in some kind of hybrid iron to help her get better launch conditions. But she loves the look of the Rogues and ended up hitting them the best on the launch monitor. We tried hitting Cleveland Launcher HB hybrid-irons, but she said they were “way too clunky” for her to wrap her head around.

My wife’s bag is centered around one mandatory attribute, the color pink. So that limits the options a bit.

Just got my gf coming out to the range, but of course I'm a WRXer so it was absolutely necessary I go apes$hit on her half-set:

Callaway Epic Flash Star 13.5 Driver

Callaway Epic Flash Star 7 wood (21 deg)

Callaway Epic Star 6 Hybrid (26deg)

Callaway Epic Forged Star 7,9,AW

Callaway Mack Daddy CB (Women's, 58deg)

TM Spider Tour Black

So far so good, just the occasional range session but we're hoping to hit some of the par 3 courses in the area before the end of the year. Between Callaway Pre-Owned, eBay, and the local used bin at GolfMart, we put it all together for about $600 (putter was inherited, one of my old ones).

My set is very similar to FormerDimer's gf's set.

12 degree Epic Flash set to 14 degrees and cut down to 42-1/2 inches.  10g weight and 35g grip puts the swing weight at C2.

A heavier sliding weight would bring that up for someone who wants something heavier.

GBB Epic 7W 21

BB 6H 27

BB 7I 32 degrees

Diablo Edge 9I, PW, SW

Junior 2 ball putter.  I'm 5' 2.5" with a swing speed of 75mph, so my clubs would be great for many petite women.

High lofted woods and hybrids are shorter than lower lofted clubs, which means that they are more practical for short golfers if you don't want to cut them down.

Doing some math, a 40.75 inch club for me is like a 45 inch club for someone that is 5 ft 9 inches tall.

LOL.  That's very funny.  My wife recently pulled her clubs out and the grips are slick as ice, the driver is the sizer of a 5 wood, and the putter grip has basically disintegrated.  She wants new clubs but they "have to be cheap and be a nice color'.

Forgot to mention… Bae’s only request was she prefer the majority of the clubs to be black.  The Mack Daddy is the only thing not adhering; down the road I may put a different black wedge together for her, but as of now she loves the novelty of the name lol.

Thought I would revive this thread.  I was a bit conflicted, I joined the Bag is Set Challenge but I also need to buy all the golf things…  Luckily my wife casually mentioned she wouldn’t mind going to the driving range sometime, activate Mercari and eBay scouring mode. I was able to scrounge together a half set for a price that if she hates it I could resell it and come out at the worst even.  2 trips to the range so far and she is making consistent contact and is asking about lessons so mission accomplished. Only mistake I made in the initial purchase was getting a 2-ball putter. She basically asked what is this and why is the neck all bent hahahaha note to self double bend shafts are a no go.  Luckily had an old B60 laying around that she liked.

I planned on redoing her bag for Christmas but ended up getting most everything in October, soI made it our anniversary gift. She was excited to have pretty ladies clubs. Total minus the bag was just under $350 and the woods are all new.

Cobra F7 driver

Cobra Lady Max OS 3/5 woods

Adams Idea A7OS hybrid combo irons

Karma Purple sparkle grips (game winner)

She got to pick out a cute cart bag to put it all in and got cute ladies balls. Still hasn't played them yet, but she has gone to the range.

She is looking for a female instructor now and we hope to play this Spring.

Thanks! It ended up being 8 degree gaps throughout. Figured it would have some consistent yardage gaps and make club selection easier…then it makes me start thinking maybe I should play a half set.

I offered to replace my wife's Lady Cobra irons with something in the super game improvement category but she isn't interested. I paid for a lesson for her last summer and her first round after the lesson was just terrible and she hasn't gone back out since.

My wife wasn't playing when this thread started (she only got into golf last year), but man am I glad it has been revived!  I'm having almost as much fun helping her build her bag as I do building my own.

We started her with one of those Top Flite 12 club sets.  She still plays the driver, 5 hybrid, and putter from this set, in addition to Top Flite 52* and 56* that were purchased by my old college roommate, who gave them to her once he realized he bought ladies clubs...🤣

We just got her a set of 2006 Callaway Big Bertha Irons (5-PW) and I think she's going to really take off with these.  She started learning to hit the Top Flites okay, but I think, like any true golfer, the idea of new (and perceptibly better) equipment is going to get her to practice and play more, and you can't get much more forgiving than a Big Bertha.

At the top end of the bag, she's been upgraded with a Cobra F-Max Airspeed 3 and 5 woods, lofted at 19* and 23*.  She's LOVING the 5 wood, and I think we're going to upgrade her driver to an F-Max Airspeed this year, as well.  Depending on how she does with the BB 5 iron, we may need to throw in a hybrid to cover the gap with the 5 wood, and I'd likely look at Cobra, perhaps an old F7, for that as well.

In the short game, she plays the aforementioned Top Flite wedges, along with my very old and very crappy 60* wedge that I bought from a department store way back in college when I didn't know what the heck I was doing.  She loves the damn thing.  Finding good wedges in Ladies' flex without spending an arm and a leg seems difficult, so this will probably be the last part of her bag that we address.

I'm trying to sell her on an old Ping B60 putter.  I've never hit one but they're very well regarded and I think the shape of it will suit her eye.

It's funny, I completely overlook Cobra/Callaway for my own bag, but it seems like that's the direction she's headed in...

I love messing with my wife’s bag!  I spend too much on it because she doesn’t give me much grief about my club ho’ing, so she deserves it.

driver - sim 2 max 12 degree

7 wood - ping faith (only club she won’t let me change)

5 hybrid - cobra sz (the purple and pink women’s one)

6-A - srixon z4 that she did custom paint fill on

56- callaway jaws md5
