Rory swinging a Ventus black

I had Ventus Black for about a month but it was just so high spin versus 4-5 other lower spin shafts I tested out. Surprised to see him hitting that. Unless it's a TX version which would be nice.

Ventus!  I haven't been this impressed with a shaft since I first hit the 757 twenty years ago.  Leaps and bounds better than any driver shaft I've ever played.  I hope he puts it in play

Why not a Blue 6x? That would seem to be a nice compromise......can't sleep on the blue

This shaft is special.  Would be surprised if Rory DOESNT have it in the bag when he returns.

That’s exactly why I wondered: do you guys think is he hitting just an “X” retail version with velocore, or do you think there’s a TX version that’ll start popping up.

There is no TX version. If you were spinning the black too much then I am not sure there is a shaft out there that can lower your spin..

I've grown up as a Cowboys fan, and I haven't watched any games because I've been playing golf on weekends instead.  I'm glad I haven't been watching, lol.  

 

I'll be rooting for a Tiger/Rory Augusta showdown as well!

 

And speaking of the Ventus Black 7x, my buddy has been using one out in his SIM, and he seems to be liking it as well.  I haven't hit it myself.

I am not sure anyone needs anything more than that.. With the right trimming anyone can find their sweet spot.

Sometimes a shaft is too stiff for a player which causes them to change the way they deliver the clubhead, usually adding dynamic loft and increasing spin.

 

Also, he is testing the X version, same as what we offer through our charter dealers & OEM upgrades.

So there is an X version! Think that will be really fun to test out when I can get my hands on it. Love the Fuji feel from my old speeder and liked the VB I just don't think it was stiff enough. Felt way too whippy for me rather than being too stiff. My driver SS is 119-120mph. Was spinning over 3500 and I lost close to 20 yards compared to what I have now.

Rory doesn't need this to outdrive DeChambeau. It's very overlooked, but he still the longer driver at the US US Open. In fact Bryson's distance is generally overstated IMO. He is a lot longer than he used to be, but he isn't the longest player on tour. He just happens to have picked up distance and maintained a very strong all around game at the same time... He's just a really good golfer.

 

Some US Open stats:

 

Rory for the week - 328.1 avg

Bryson for the week - 325.6 avg

Rory even led the field in strokes gained off the tee that week. Rory was 6.96 to Bryson's 5.38.

 

If Rory wants to win at Augusta it's all of the other parts of his game that he should be working on.

As others said, Bryson won because as far as he was hitting it, he was relatively straight.

 

Rorys biggest problem has been driving accuracy, he’s near the top in distance anyway. Bryson wasn’t.

There's always been an "x" version. Fuji rep just said it's the same as what's avl at their charter dealers... you could get your hand on it now if u wanted (6x, 7x, 8x etc). You'd probably need to tip one of the versions based on what you're saying though, if it still felt whippy for you.

Love my Black 6X in the driver.  Have it in all 3 of the drivers I have.  Also have the 7X Blue in the Sim 3 wood and the Red 7X in my current gamer (Mavrik SZ 3 wood).  
 

cant wait to try the Ventus in a hybrid.

Forgot to say that Rory doesn’t look to be going all out in his swing like Bryson does.  I know Bryson has a different set up with his arms out farther, basically locking himself in and seems more robotic.  Rory still looks smooth with his swing.  I think Rory has more in the tank if he wants to really go “all in” with this more distance change.

Comparing Finau to Rory is like comparing Ernie Els to Nick Watney, sure Watney is/was a very good golfer, he's just not is the same class as far as winning is concerned. Finau has a huge problem winning that I don't see him getting over anytime soon.

The lawsuit and now COVID aren’t going to help his mental state,  I like Tony and root for him to win when he’s to the top of the leaderboard but it seems the pressure gets to him at times.
